Another amazing thing about Priuschat is the phenomenal growth of its membership. I joined June 22, and am member #15,544. I see NineToez joined September 1 and is member #17,533. That's nearly 2,000 new members in 2.5 months. Has anybody kept any statistics on membership? I'd love to see a graph.
tony had a graph of membership growth, i don't know when it was last updated and i can't find the thread edit: AHA!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(galaxee @ Sep 5 2006, 10:13 PM) </div> Thanks! I'll have to look at this closer. This is off topic...but I only just saw this response. I don't know why, but I'm not getting notifications for some of the topics I've subscribed to. Anybody know why this is happening?
I've been in love with the Prius since it first came out in the US. At first, it was a love of hybrid cars. However, when I found out that the Insight got its best mileage with a manual transmission, I looked at the Prius as my hybrid option. I didn't start reading up on the car until the 2004 model came out. When I saw it at the Texas State Fair, I said to myself, 'I have to have that car.' I hung around the Yahoo group, but didn't like its organization (or lack thereof). When Danny announced Prius Chat, I checked it out. I didn't join PC at first, but I avidly read it while I waited for my car.
I'm a member of Union of Concerned Scientists who helped get the Prius it's super-high tax break for this year. They pointed me to GreenHybrid.com, and those forums in the Prius section frequently mention PriusChat.com as basically being that section of their forums on steroids. So... here I am. I frequently consider myself a nerd for wondering how technology like the Prius works, but hey everyone all your posting has paid off: 2 friends of mine who couldn't care less about the environment are now in love with the Prius not because of the milage, the environment or any other benefit, but because of the planetary gear system. They're both Mechanical Engineers and they love planetary gears, especially one this cool (automatic transmissions are decidedly less cool). So thanks for posting all that great info.
