    Hi Don,

Thank you for specifying that your El Grande horns had only one spade/lug. That seems to be the case for most people with the El Grande who mention it. I'm curious please, are the bodies of your El Grande horns (behind the red cover) a silver/chrome, or dark like the ones I showed in my picture?

As an aside, I've been to the PNW a number of times and really enjoyed it; have been to areas such as Mt Rainier, Leavenworth, Deception Pass, Whidbey & Camano Islands, and a little bit around the Seattle area itself. :)

    Mike

I did this DIY this weekend using FIAMM Freeway Blasters 72102 and 72112.

I chose to pull out all the clips and bolts on the top of the bumper and rad covers, and then just pulled the top of the bumper cover toward me when required. Even with my gorilla arms and hands I was able to get the access I needed.

I suggest the emblem removal method for non-gorillas. That's an elegant solution to the access problem.

Thanks for sharing. I just did this upgrade and it was totally worth the $26~ and 1 hour to install. The difference in how the horns sound is night and day. I feel like a grown up car on the road now!

I bought the FIAMM 74100 El Grande high+low kit and they needed the ground wire nut thingy. Not an issue at all.

I removed the Toyota badge and also loosened the front facia just to give myself some extra wiggle room. Apparently, I have a pedestrian warning system which i never hear and didn’t need to remove it.

Did this upgrade today. I feel like people can't even hear the stock horns. These are a great upgrade. I bought the 72012 and 72112 because when I ordered them on Amazon, it says I had purchased them before. I realized they were the same ones I put in my Dodge Magnum and those are pretty loud. I also didn't want the red behind the grille.

Thanks for the write up! Very helpful. I didn't take off the badge, but didn't have much issue getting the horns on and off, and I have big hands.

I told my friend about a situation where I needed to honk my horn and how embarassing it was because of the sound. His wife said, "Honking a horn in a Prius is embarrassing regardless of the sound.":whistle:

I just did the horn upgrade this weekend, too.
Except I used Hella brand horns. 2pk for $26 shipped on amazon. Made to fit the Prius

Everything fit perfect, except I had to loosen the bracket on the horns and rotate the horns a little bit, but nothing excessive and the openings still pointed down. It sounds MUCH nicer, way closer to a "normal" horn. TOTALLY worth it.
