The OP's post was about L2 charging (see the tittle of this thread). Not my fault if postings strayed.

And not all chargings start with zero charge. For some it may be a rare occurrence.

EV - battery - charging fires ..... drama where there really is none.
This is indicative of picking off gnats before you swallow an elephant. Let's not worry about a gas fire every 5 minutes. Comparatively, what is the ratio of ev/charging/battery/poor wiring fires per million miles?
Do ev's have to have fire issues so ubiquitous - that no one thinks of them - as they don't seem to with gas burners?

The OP was about the potential hazards from an improperly installed Level 2 EVSE. Sticking with Level 1 could be a way of avoiding them.

True, and it is why many BEVs don't need Level 2 at home.

A non-small portion of US commutes are around 40 miles. It is short enough that Level 1 can recharge it before most people have to leave again. It is too long to fully charge on Level 1 at lower TOU rates.

A 16A 240V Level 2 is a good compromise -- same amps as L1 with twice the power.

Rain destroyed an L1 plug on an extension cord used for our BMW i3-REx. For isolated, one time cases, OK, but not a realistic long term solution for me.
