Sounds like the same model year to me. Maybe the 2008 MY Tahoe will be introduced a few weeks/months before the 2008 MY Vue? Or maybe they shifted things a few weeks. Not sure it's such a "drastic" change.

This spring, they said the second model using two-mode was expected in early 2009. And that it would be a truck still. Now it's expected over a year sooner and it's a car-based SUV.

For an automaker that moves slower than a snail (about 5 years for just the mock hybrid), that's actually impressive. I sure hope that actually deliver.

Keep in mind that Ford also had a mock hybrid prototype way back too. They even touted how it could rapid-start the engine faster than this brand new car called a Prius. Nothing was ever delivered to consumers though. Now, GM is planning to deliver somthing worthwhile. But, how many?

Tsk, Tsk, John... The Vue is no more a mock hybrid than the Honda Civic/Accord/Insight or the Toyota Crown hybrid. Such blatant FUD.

You know very well that SILVERADO was the hybrid I was referring to, because literally hundreds of times I have referred to Civic, Accord, and Insight as type "assist" ...never once calling them anything other than that. And quite a number of times already, I have also referred to Vue as the "assist" type.

SILVERADO is a mock hybrid because there is no blending of any kind. There is no thrust whatsoever to the wheels from an electric motor. It is simply a smart traditional vehicle with a more powerful than usual battery & starter.

    Geez! Such blatant slander.

How do I know that if you don't say it? I have a hard enough time understanding you as it is.

I know. I expect better from you. Really. :(

I don't believe that for a moment. If your intentions were actually sincere, you'd ask questions for clarification... like everyone else does. But instead, you discredit by making it personal instead of sticking to facts, then draw a conclusion accusing me of FUD. It's pretty obvious too, since the same old topic gets repeated so often. Everytime a competitor's technology is deemed unfit for direct competition, you chime in.

There's nothing left to understand. It's the same old topic over and over again. The "assist" design is not the same. It is that simple. There's only one electric-motor, so abilities are limited compared to what the two electric-motor "full" design delivers.

With respect to this topic, GM will learn first hand that a limited design will only provide a short-term solution. The better investment is something that supports long-term potential. Two-Mode (known on this thread as "High-Low") is that better choice, a design that costs more but delivers much more overall for a business as well as the consumer.

John... put on your thinking cap for just a second. We were talking about the Vue. Messages about the vue. Then you mention a mock hybrid with no further clarification. Could it be, that perhaps, it seemed like you were talking about the Vue. Think about it... just maybe you needed to clarify yourself.
