High EMF in rear right seat?

    At least you contributed mightily to my Profit Sharing payout, back in the days when it existed.

    It was probably someone noticing that the Tri Field Meter did a good enough job, at 0.1% of the cost, that caused company profits to collapse, leading in domino fashion to the entire Dot Com Bust.

    What is the level of the cosmic background radiation?

    I've long wondered if we could make a spaceship powered by cosmic background radiation:
    • 160.2 Ghz - 1.9 mm wavelength
    • everywhere
    So what we do is equip the spacecraft with 0.8 mm, highly conductive, antenna with a full-wave, rectifier between each leg. The subsequent, DC power collects in ultra capacitors and is used to power a highly efficient, super-conductor magnet, cyclotron or linear accelerator. The front of the craft presents a magnetic trap to capture the dust and hydrogen atoms needed for fuel.

    The reason we can't power our Prius by the EMI/EMF of cosmic background radiation is atmospheric attenuation. But in space, no problem.

    Like the farmer who took the power driving the internet video florescent tubes, maybe it is time to think 'out side the box.' Time to design a stellar system, 'star' drive, the 'impulse power', to reach our nearest neighbors. <grins>

    So what say you, our EMI/EMF friends, how about running on cosmic background radiation . . . God's power lines?

    Maybe all the energy radiated could be redirected back into charging the battery system somehow. It moves the needle on my EMF meter but Im not sure if thats caused by the 9 volt in the meter or the radiation forcing the internals to move. I think a system that converts vibration or hydraulic shock into electrical energy would work better though.

    Hydraulic shocks in big rigs have been built that convert that pressure force into usable electricity. We're surrounded by great opportunities to use energy efficiently. As I type this I've just remembered 3 different possible MPG boosters which I'm sure have already been implemented or tested by someone out ther

    Unless I'm grossly mistaken, I think that this idea gets hit by thermodynamics. In thermo, useful work is only performed by moving energy from a higher temperature environment to a lower temperature. That's kind of how the ICE motor works: hot combustion products expand, cooling down, the exhaust goes out the tailpipe, and the difference in energy between the high temperature compressed stuff and the low energy uncompressed gas is what's converted into useful work, i.e., moving the pistons and the car around.

    The problem with that background radiation is, well, it's background radiation. Generally speaking, you can't find anything in the local environment that's cooler than the background radiation. That includes things like, say, Pluto. If you can't get dump the energy in a cooler place, then you can't make useful Work, in the Physics sense.

    There are places in the universe that have lower temperatures than the background; massive black holes, for one. (Yes, black holes have a temperature: See A Brief History of Time, by S. Hawking.) So, if one had a machine in close vicinity to such a hole, then radiation could be taken in in the "up" direction, radiated out the "down" direction, and useful work performed. Until, of course, since the universe is cooling as it expands (assuming no Big Rip, of course) its temperature will eventually drops below that of the black hole. I suppose one could then reverse the antennas on the orbiting machine and run things the other way until the black hole evaporates..

    Of course, in the local neighborhood, there's a nice, energetic source of heat that's much hotter than the background: the sun. And we know how to absorb energy at the peak solar luminescence point: Solar cells. (Plants have kind of figured this one out, too, natch.). And we have a place to dump the energy into as we move it from the sun to elsewhere, that being the local environment, which is a wee bit cooler than the sun. In space, that translates to everywhere that's, well, black.

    I guess another way to put it, and it's a pretty close analogy, it to consider water in a river. If said river is above sea level one can extract energy from the water by putting it over a dam or under a waterwheel. But, as a first order issue, putting a water wheel or dam in the middle of the ocean doesn't do one much good, funny business with tides and ocean waves not considered.

    I don't imagine that Bob was serious. I'm pretty sure he's having fun with some of the hair-brained ideas kicked around on this and other similar threads. Obviously, without a energy differential, work is impossible.

    I've measured the EMF of my active cell phone and it's below 0.3 milligauss, but I think I just lucked out with my samsung. I should test others.

    Would someone know a creative way to shield almost all of the cables running through the cabin? What could the negative affects be if I did this? All I can think of is less radio static and lower EMF as the positives. I've stripped my auto of carpeting and plastic trim and she's ready for experiments. Would anyone recommend flexible steel conduit for EMF reduction on cables? I would use that first then a possibly a few layers of spiraled (@) mumetal or (( o )) <==center is cable bundle within flex-steel conduit.

    These cables are showing anywhere from 30- 90+ milligauss on my meter and I know my Trifield meter isn't balanced for all the HZ possiblities of the prius, but even IF it is just off its waaay too high. I've managed to lower the EMF 87.5 percent from 90 to 10 or so, but its waaay too bulky with the sheet metal that I crudely placed for experimentation.

    I kinda like how my prius is at the moment without all the carpeting as I feel I can access and test its inner workings in a flash.

    Oh, and I'm pretty sure I've also got a dead battery blower fan and a metallic box below the emergency brake line that may have gotten some coffee spilled on it. I hope cleaning that will fix the ABS (!) and brake light issue on it but I highly doubt it.

    For any of this to be meaningful, you are going to need a real meter. Rolling dice or reading chicken entrails will produce data on a par with the TriField meter.

    (1) Where did you find a cell phone that operates within the 100kHz frequency limit of the magnetic field sensor of your Trifield meter?
    (2) Trifield notes: "*Sensitivity is inversely proportional to frequency from 2K Hz to 100K Hz". What adjustment factor did you apply?

    I'm not sure how your measurement is any better than asking the nearest 90 year old nursing home resident to gauge dog whistle loudness. Maybe soaking the chicken entrails in whiskey will help reveal the answer.

    If you stitch chicken livers into dodecahedrons and place 1 on each major ECU of the vehicle, it will act as an EMF absorption module. This is similar to the bio neural gel packs of the Enterprise NCC-74656.

    They will eventually fill up and will require replacement. I get about 200 hours of drive time per liver-dodecahedron. I have heard that if you make a turducken based geometric absorption module, they can last much longer but I have not tried it. Since installing these modules I continue to never get headaches or any other illness. Therefore it is very conclusive that they are doing their intended purpose and blocking all EMF.

    I'm new to this discussion, but went to the Trifield® Meter and saw: Accuracy @ 60 Hz (50 Hz): +/- 20% of reading

    Am I missing something?
