No I've been doing my own oil changes since around the 90's. Toyota's make it super-easy for the DIYers and maintenance. The last time I paid a mechanic was to replace a left-front axle seal in my 4x4 Tundra a few years ago.

I think I misunderstood the post. I thought you said something about getting the oil changed right away because pieces of metal could be floating in the oil from when the car was being built. When do you do first oil change?

Yeah, in the old days engines had wear metals that needed to be flushed out with the first oil change. Nowadays, you will hear that it isn't necessary anymore because of the massive improvements to precision machining for engines.

I, still, have to smirk when I'm doing an oil change and tire rotation on our Priis. Hubcaps to deal with? Really? Even our old 2008 Corolla has nicer rims!

But, thanks, Toyota for offering some 17-inch allys "only" for $2,187 MSRP for a set of 4....

Oh, sorry, I do a break-in oil and oil filter change between 500-1,000 miles then every 5,000 (or 6-months, whichever comes first.)

By any chance, do you still have the stock wheels? Can you weigh it and let us know the number?

Unfortunately, I didn't have the room to take the wheels back; the tire dealer kept them, so I never got to find out the weight of them.

You just let them keep your stock wheels for free?

Yep. I didn't have the space or the time to sell them; I had looked for them on Ebay and other places at the time, and there was just ONE (not a set) that had been on there for sale for 60 days without a sale. I also had asked the chat if anyone was looking for them, but at that time (Sept '23) no one bit the apple. That was my thought process.

I swapped out the OEM 17" and haven't mounted the snows yet. They weigh about 19 lbs. Not the lightest but pretty good for OEMs.
