Congrats Josh. Makes sense. Not sure if your using Fuelly but it is a good MPG tracker. Makes it fun with the new car.
The Corolla is a great little car! My Duaghter-in-law has a 1996 with 200,000 miles and it still keeps on tickin. Good luck with you new purchase. I'm sure you made the right decision.
He is thinking rationally, lower cost, lower mileage, not very far to drive. Avoiding big ticket repairs some Hybrid's throw at you. Thinking of a car to give to his daughter so she can have worry free motoring in the future. Smart guy. However every now and then some black Prius gen 3 with the Sun roof down will pass him buy with some guy with a pretty gal in the front seat and he will have that would of, should of, could of moment we all have in our lives. But that to will pass.
My oldest son had a 1994 Corolla that took him to and from college in the Bristol Hills of NYS and work after graduation and I drove it for a year after he moved to Colorado. I even hit a four point buck in it in 2011 with just a slight hood dent and the deer survived the roll he took... This Corolla was sold to a family friend for his daughter in 2012 and with over 250K on the odometer it is still going strong... my son was very religious about oil changes and maintenance as the new owner is. Best wishes to you!
