Well your lack of underhood interest I’m afraid has probably damaged the engine. Usually the launching of the
RTOD red triangle of death concerning engine oil is very very bad as it’s alerting you the engine has zero oil pressure you have fumes for oil. You have had multiple events. So start listening for bad sounds from the engine. Stop driving it when you hear the engine start knocking as exciting things you won’t enjoy start happening. Seen so many Prius engines killed because owners could not care less what’s going on under the hood.

You bought a new 12 volt battery then you post about charging it. How did you kill the new 12 volt?

Lastly the car going into limp mode and you resetting the 12 volt usually means high voltage ground fault
Logged From hybrid battery. Leaking battery modules. Hybrid battery must be replaced or repaired.

    Poor Daisy has been flogged.

    Hello, Edthefox5,

I'm a bit confused about your feedback. Up until the oil light coming on, I would check her fluids every morning and nothing was amiss. So I was pretty alarmed and made sure to keep a closer eye out but I haven't had that issue since. And no new noises.

Next, I never said anything about charging the new battery. I CHANGED the battery because the old one died. The new battery works like a dream as far as I can tell because Daisy at least made three and a half laps before dying again.

Now, I could really use some help figuring this out. Has anybody heard of this happening with a solution???

    Best,

    Vz

    Hello, All,

Daisy is currently awaiting a diagnosis at the shop. We'll see what they come up with... fingers crossed.

sounds like you either got a bad 12 volt, or something is draining it while off.

    all the best!(y)

    Bisco,

My uncle and I were just discussing the possibility of something draining the battery...

Update: Shop says the code they get back is for the main battery, but they're going to run a few more tests to be sure.

I had a similar problem and got stuck on the interstate for 3 hrs waiting for a tow, ha!!! Lot's of utube available. I took the trunk stuff out for access to the HIV battery driver side where you can remove the battery connection plug, mine is orange......then disconnect the 12v battery and short the pos and neg cable (not the terminals)......leave it for maybe an hr.......put the HIV plug back in then reconnect the 12v battery...all will be clear........drive and see how long it will perform properly......My Gen2 is still rollin', good luck!!!

I got the same problem for my 2008 Prius (Gen 2). The 12V battery had been changed recently and when tested it had a 100% capacity. The hybrid battery also is in good condition with regular maintenence done on it.

But the problem of not shifting into gears happened every two to three days where the 12v battery was disconnected and reconnected again for it to shift into gears again.

Went to the dealership and no got apparent fault when checked through the laptop and all.

So, when the dashboard lights up there is this "VSC" light that switches on. Apparently this light means there is a voltage surcharge in the system.

My vehicle had an underseat subwoofer, which the previous owner installed. The subwoofer main sorce of power was the headunit (the screen) and not the 12v battery.

I had to go to rewire all this, installed a new subwoofer for myself and changed the main power source for the subwoofer (removed the power source of the sub from the head unit and connected it to the 12V battery directly).

After this change i did not encounter the problem again and no power surcharge ever happened. Been running for 1month straight without any issues
So my main advice for this will be to check your wiring system of your system/car
