Best to compile it and dump periodically, the air pressure might reverse polarity at critical moments.

Agreed about the power button. I'd like to be able to keep it on. My fuel economy tends to suffer because of it in stop and go.. haha. Cause it's fun to use. Though if I drive carefully, I can get good mpg. I did Irvine to Malibu the other day in hot stop and go traffic w/ full ac and custom sound system playing (two amps) and got an indicated 52.0 mpg. I was happy to squeeze that out of my Lexus!

The huge mouth on it--I love it. Most luxury car makes have massive grills on it that gives the car immediate recognition and road presence. Audi, Mercedes, Acura, Lexus, BMW's front fascias feature large grills.

My color is called Ultrasonic Blue Mica. And yes it's a hatch back while the Prius is a lift back.

I kinda regret not getting a 4 Touring, you don't know what you really need until you really get to know the vehicle. I also kinda wish I got black.

You say: Stay away from Sea Pearl. Why would you say this? Is something intrinsically wrong with this color? Or is it just your opinion?

Funny, I agree with you on the Four with ATP. I bought a plain Four, and wish I had gotten the ATP. I had a max out the door price of 30k, and I couldn't get the Four with ATP and red color for that price. I'm not thinking of turning mine in, but I can see trading it in, in the next few years. BTW, I like the power heated seats, but can easily live without them. I do like having the Nav though. I guess everyone has a set of options they can and can't live without, so very few will be 100% satisfied. In the end, you pay for options you don't want. Bring back the ala carte days of ordering a new car. Everything was an option, including power windows!

    Agreed, but....

BTW, if you got the radio with the I-heart app (I know it come with he JBL upgrade), you can access the Freakanomics Pod cast rather easily -- go to Shows, business. It is really very, very good. i particularly liked the "I, Pencil" episode, and the Malcom Gladwell interview -- but they have yet to ever disappoint.

I'm looking at a 2 month old post... and it's still funny! :ROFLMAO:

I keep getting these little yellow bird poops on my "Blizzard friggin' Pearl". Every day! And my car is not under a tree. They look like strafing runs... For some odd reason, the birds (and even flies!) are attracted to that shiny pearly white color. But, like I mentioned earlier, that's the least of my worries and it's been a very good car so far. I'm enjoying it.

No, I always drive while sitting down!!
Seriously, For flying, unplanned landings are a huge PITA, and impossible if doing ferry flights over water, so the pilot relief thingy is a true necessity IMO. But even aircraft without autopilots can be trimmed to fly stably hands-off for a short period of time. Using that relief thing in a car whilst driving 60 mph strikes me as a very dangerous thing to do,

You do realize that the things you object to can all be turned off and on, right? I don't know about rain-sensing wipers, but having lane assist and forward collision mitigation (part of what makes the adaptive cruise control possible) will save you on your insurance. They could also make your car worth more or easier to sell in the future, when all new cars are required to have them. The testing has been so impressive that they've rushed that into regulation. IIRC, that's coming in 2018.

Please provide more details regarding the NAV sucking big time. I am on the verge of getting a Three with ATP so I could have the heads up display. When I went to the dealership yesterday and tried putting in my own address, neither the salesman nor I could get it to work. I just figured it was the lack of knowledge on the salesman's part. I still have my Garmin to stick up on the windshield if needed, but that's just sad. Also, I've read on this site about something called a "Carista?" thing that can reprogram some of the tech. Does this mean it can reprogram the NAV system? Sucks big time means . . . ?

The Nav doesn't suck. (Maybe people are expecting too much out of it?) I had no trouble typing and entering addresses. You can also use the voice command for many things... I'm still learning the right phrases.

I've never used Nav before in any car. So I don't have anything to compare it to. But it works simple enough for me. The instruction manual made everything seem much more complicated than it actually is. Once I got in the car and started pushing buttons, I figured it out.

I'm not going to mess around with that "Carista" thing. I'm leaving all the factory settings as is. A few "back-up beeps" doesn't bother me at all! Everything is working good. Just leave it the heck alone! I don't want to "analyze" my Prius... I just want to simply drive it. :) It's just a car.

Hi Kim. Didn't think of updating this until now.

Well, last Gen Prius NAV sucked. I've tried it in my sister's car and hated it. She hated it too.

Now that I've tried it in this Prius, I would give the NAV a B-. The directions are good, the map is clear and it has a lot of options.

The things that could be improved upon:
    1. Ability to cancel voice guidance on the fly
    2. Voice input of destinations is not very intuitive
    3. Finding a POI by voice is tricky

What I do like about it is the feature that shows the turning arrows up on the top screen. Very handy.

Our 2012 hatchback, trim level 3 has the nav option I would just add:
    1. You have to be stopped to enter addresses, even if the passenger seat is occupied (you can, however, choose an already-entered address.). Frustrating for us as we have passenger navigate and it would be useful to be able to enter addresses, search POIs , etc.
    2. Panning the display to see the streets outside the displayed area is extremely counter-intuitive compared to Garmin, Magellan, and TomTom GPS units which we also use. It appears that you have to stroke the screen up to go down, down to go up, right to go left, and left to go right. But after 3 years we still have trouble panning the display. DW adds that zooming out often loses details and is thus not an acceptable alternative to panning.

FWIW, we install a 5-inch display TomTom in the small side window to the right of the passenger seat and keep that zoomed out for an overview map used by the navigator, and then keep the central console GPS set at a zoomed-in level as it is the only GPS display that can safely and directly be read by the driver with a quick glance. The TomTom also came with lifetime maps updating, so if the GPSs disagree we can count on it having the newest street information.

    Good luck!

LIke you, I originally discounted the HUD as a gimmick, but now that I have it I wouldn't want to be without it. My speed is front and center along with the eco meter. And every time the speed limit changes it pops up a sign right on the HUD. And I've found the Navigation to be pretty good overall. The added benefit is the next turn pops up on the HUD as you approach it with some nice animation right at your turn. J

One important factor the HUD doesn't appear to show is when the vehicle is in EV .

See you got the Four. Did you even test drive a Touring? I swore I would never buy another Touring and I wound up with two. The ride is phenomenal.

You can stop voice guidance on the fly by using the voice command 'Suspend Guidance'. You can resume it with the voice command 'Resume Guidance'.
