    It's a film tint.

Presumably you also ran the air-conditioner less during hot summer days? Somewhere I read that the air-con can absorb up to perhaps 10% of the energy while driving. Am I correct in thinking that you you eeked out a few more miles/km's from your battery before using the ICE when driving longer distances or stuck in traffic jams?

Could you please take a photo of the fixed glass roof? How did they cut it around the dot matrix?

Had mine tinted this Wednesday. Same shop that has done 7-8 of my cars over the years. Never had any problems with bubbling or fading. Never stopped by State Troopers either.
Huper Optic’s best ceramic. Lifetime, transferable warranty. Sides and back: $535

Those are all great questions, but I'm afraid I won't be able to test that theory out anymore.. I tinted the Prius not even 2 weeks after purchasing it, and I got it over the winter, so the A/C has hardly been used so far.

In theory, having effective heat-blocking film would reduce A/C usage, which should result in reduced energy usage. Would it be noticeable? Difficult to say...

I can snap a pic next time I drive it. I can definitely say that the tint job was very clean and the end of the tint is indistinguishable unless you really run your fingers along the edges to feel the tint. I remember there was enough space around the dot matrix to provide good coverage. A good installer will be able to make the tint look like its part of the window itself.

20240207_075515_Original.jpeg I went with 20% all the way around. $225 Carbon, not ceramic.
