well, that "week" has come and gone, and no bill introduced yet.
perhaps folks want to contact Senator Yee? You can get in touch using this page: Contact Me | Senator Leland Yee, Ph.D.

Driving with my new stickers is GLORIOUS! Just for the heck of it, I counted cars as I passed them yesterday. I realized how ridiculous an undertaking that was when the number quickly climbed over 300. Wheee!

so is it just me or are the carpool lanes in the East Bay in SF completely useless?
driving Berkeley to Cupertino @ 7.20 am…an hour. doing the same drive an hour later, at 8.20 am…an hour 15 minutes. and that was with the carpool lane becoming a "general purpose" lane by the time I reached the San Mateo bridge.
coming back today was an absolute disaster…Took 50 minutes just to get to Fremont.

As useless as it may seem, imagine that drive in the slower lanes to the right. You're still saving a lot of time. I'll take 30 mph in the HOV lane over 5 mph in the other lanes any day.

Man, we need to switch jobs or residences. I go up to Richmond everyday from Milpitas. I can make it to Cupertino all in EV.

Oh and my commute is an hour against traffic. If you can get to Cupertino with traffic in an hour, that's a good day.

Sigh. No sign of my check being cashed.
My manager sent his check in 1/18 and received his stickers yesterday.
    Can I call them?

    Aha!
    Check sent: 1/11
    Returned: 2/13

Apparently Hayward Toyota reported the "motive power" on the record if sale as Gas (G), rather than PHEV (Q)!
I'm not happy. But at least I know the fix - the DMV sent a statement of fact form for the dealer to fill out, along with suggested wording. Too bad the DMV couldn't just fix it for them/me. Since the response was a pre-printed form, this mistake obviously happens repeatedly.

Lesson: look at your registration, find the "MP" field (right after body/type/model) and make sure it says "Q", not "G".

Thankfully I'm only doing this until May, at which point I will definitely be moving.
In the meantime…renting a smart EV and leaving it parked at Great America and taking the Capitol Corridor. Not much longer time-wise, less polluting environmentally, and way the hell less stressful.

That's a good plan. Make sure you like the job first. An intern at my work just found a job in the South Bay. I recommended he suffer the 1 hour commute for awhile first. I mean, what if the job isn't what he expects it to be? But he's young and just wants to move out. He's looking for an apartment right now.

    And to stay on topic:
CA Bill Would Extend Carpool Lane Access Perk For 10 Years
I wonder how much my PiP will appreciate if it passes and the 40k green stickers run out. I remember my sister could've sold her Prius for what she paid at 3 years old.

I wish. Milpitas to Cupertino is only about 10 miles. I'd kill for that commute.

So according to my prediction: Has anyone received a CA Green HOV Sticker yet? | Page 29 | PriusChat
We are right on time. 2 months from mentioned to vote. I'm assuming "acted upon on or after March 17th" means to vote on it. I didn't predict how long it will be delayed for the amendment.

The 17th is actually the earliest it *could* be voted on. But it could languish in committee for a month or two.
    I stand corrected :)

But the amazing thing is that you can actually reach the people who are handling them and get accurate information. Very untypical of state bureaucracies.
