We bought the car on the 6th. Dealer sent in the paperwork for us. Our check cleared on the 12th.

 

Picked up the car last friday, got the plates this Tuesday ... I am just getting around to mailing in the form today. Also sending in the CVRP form today...

My PIP is due next month. So, these posts got me to thinking that I should order a license plate now. I was able to get "PLUGBLE". Alhtough they say it can take 8 to 12 weeks to get the plates, I can now tell DMV the license plate when I apply for the sticker. There were quite a few others that I would have considered like PPLUGIN, 3PLUGIN, MYPLUGN,PLUGIN3, etc. A lot of the good ones like PLUGABL, 4PLUGIN, etc were already taken. Just go to the DMV website.

 

Good try - but won't fly. Personalized plates can only be assigned to a vehicle after it's been registered. When you're initially registered, you'll get a generic assigned plate you then turn in for the personalized one. If you try your approach, they will reject the application.

Weird that the instructions say to place the sticker "with the State Seal in the up position". That would make them upside down, since the State Seal is on the bottom. Unless they mean "State Seal right side up", as per the illustrations in the Placement Instructions (and common sense).

Looks like a 10 day turn around from Application mailing until the sticker arrives.

 

CharlesH- Congrats! I was wondering if any (cough, cough) other manufacturers vehicles made it ahead of us, and looks like they did not- with #5....
Sent mine in on the 8th, arrived at DMV on the 9th (Fed Ex tracking number) so sooon....

 

My sticker arrived arrived today as well...Sent application on March 7th, check cashed March 13th, sticker arrived March 16th!

CharlesH - we are kindred brothers... Our governance in Sacramento must have wanted to be fair between the North and the South people... distributing stickers across the land. Now, if you guys would just relent and send us more water down here....

 

Yes. Just put a ordinary first class stamp on the envelope and dropped it in the box at the post office on the 6th.

The CVRP application went by certified mail on the 5th, and I got the certified delivery receipt back but not the $$ yet.

 

Well, we are getting a gully washer full of rain this weekend, and around 3 feet of snow expected in the Sierras, so I guess we can send some down your way.

For you Easterners: the rain in California is seasonal; 95+% of our precipitation comes between November and March and it's been pretty sparse so far this season.

 

For those who got their stickers: are you going to ignore the direction on the Placement Instructions to place the stickers "with the State Seal in the up position", and instead orient them with the correct side up as per the illustrations, with the State Seal in the down position? Honestly, I have read the instructions (attached) over and over, and can't figure out why they are telling us (repeatedly) to install them upside down, but show illustrations with the expected orientation.

 

Sent in on the 8th from So Cal, delivered 9th to DMV (Fed Ex), check cashed Friday 3/16/12... Getting close to Happy Dance!!
