Here is what mine looks like. And no nothing happens when you press it for 10 sec. I even tried a whole 30 sec and nothing happend. [attachmentid=3644]
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(theforce @ May 31 2006, 05:56 PM) </div> Intersting that the menu is different that way. Thanks for trying it!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(AnOldHouse @ May 31 2006, 02:31 PM) </div> I wonder if the actual 2006 screen will look different from the 2004-2005. If it is the same, the screen should look something like this.
I just went out to my car to check, but I noticed that on the Navigation Check menu, the blank spot from the picture isn't blank on my car. Instead, it shows a greyed out "RDS-TMC Information" button. Holding this for 10 seconds does nothing for me. Extra info, just in case it's useful: Mfr Date: 04/06 I would also like to say the car was in pre-ACC mode (hitting power button once without stepping on brake) instead of Ready because I was too lazy to hop over to the driver's side. EDIT: Looks like I was beaten to the punch.
This may be a little off topic but does anyone know what the "RDS-TMC Information" is and why its grayed out? [edit] never mind i found out what it is. From a quick google search. "The navigation software uses the RDS/TMC information to indicate the user that there is traffic jam and avoids traffic jams by showing an alternative route to the driver." Next question is do we have that option? and if we do why is it grayed out?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(theforce @ May 31 2006, 03:13 PM) </div> Oooohhh, I want that feature! THat's the only thing that would entice me to buy a hand-held GPS. Could it perhaps be an available option if you have the SAT radio?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(AnOldHouse @ May 31 2006, 05:06 PM) </div> YES! keep these experiments going. It's only a matter of time
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Manksgloob @ May 31 2006, 06:09 PM) </div> But just as appreciated, none the less.
I found that all the diagnostics menus (not only NAV-related!) are defined in the loading.kwi file resided on the navigation DVD. This file is what the navigation system loads during the initialization [probably it becomes resident afterwards]. While there is no "override" menu item, it does not mean that it is not hidden somewhere (may be using some other name, or may be no name at all). Anyway, the important fact is that it comes from _the file_ on DVD. This means that even if the override code is not there, it can be added by modifying loading.kwi (I need to warn you that this is not so easy, as it is in a special format and includes some lots of machine code). What would be helpful is to find out what does loading.kwi from e.g. Prius 2005 looks like. If they used the same approach, it is possible, that 2005 loading.kwi file has this Override menu. This could help to reverse engineer these files and locate a similar code in 2006 version (or inject 2005 code into 2006 version if it is not there at all). Of course this will also require burning dual-layer NAV DVD with the modifications afterwards (so far I did not even manage to create a working NAV DVD backup, probably there is some kind of protection or the DVD reader is only compatible with certain disk brands - but I heard some other people were more successful). Hope it helps!
Hey all - As I was moving around in the "Vehicle Sensor" window, I set off a "siren" that sounded like a car alarm. It also happened while moving around the "Diagnosis Menu". It cleared on its own and the car is acting just fine. Has this happened to anyone else? Tad
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tad @ Jun 1 2006, 06:47 AM) </div> No, but this is good to know. On the 2005, the screen that has the Override has some buttons that will reset things, others that give information while some should never be touched. The "Loading" button, for example, will attempt to load the Nav DVD, which is already inside. As a result, the nav system won't work until you open the unit itself and press a reset button.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tad @ Jun 1 2006, 08:47 AM) </div> This has not happened to me either, and I've pushed almost every button in those menus. I just don't mess with any code resets or anything like that. Do you remember what button(s) specifically set off the alarm? Perhaps you sat on your panic button
Here's a great link on how to back up the NAV dvd, and how to mess around with the files. Hope this helps someone. http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=19268&hl=
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Greenfoot @ Jun 1 2006, 02:49 PM) </div> A definite possibility! The first time it happened I thought the car next to me had it's alarm going off. I'll see if I can reproduce it this weekend and let you all know. Thanks! Tad
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tad @ Jun 2 2006, 07:45 AM) </div> No Tad...thank you! I was joking about the whole panic button thing...but if you are willing to set off unknown alarms in your car all for us to learn from...well that is awesome, and truly appreciated. And to all of you out there who continue to experiment and tell us about it...THANK Y'ALL!
I was just thinking of a way to hack the service menus. I was wondering if there was a list of hacks for other navigation systems out there? Is there any hacks for other systems that are made by the same maker of the 2006 Prius NAV? Just wondering because if there is we may be able to find a pattern in the button presses or menu systems. Just a thought. On a side note if I knew how to decompile and read the loading.kwi file I would be all over it! I might try to look at it with some asembly program like hexworkshop just to see whats there.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(theforce @ Jun 3 2006, 07:15 PM) </div> Actually that's how the one for the 2004-2005 hack was found. It came from the Lexus chat group. What's happening with the Lexus, have they found a hack?
As a former Lexus owner I was active in the Clublexus.com group. I went over about a month ago and started a thread concerning our Nav problem. Most folks there think that the 2006 IS350 has the same Nav system. However after many posts it became clear that the two systems are different. Thus far no one there has come up with a solution. I think this is something that is unqiue to the Prius at this time. Good work to date, we just need to keep going forward. Manny
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(drmanny3 @ Jun 6 2006, 03:05 PM) </div> In Camrychat, people are saying the hack shown at this clublexus THREAD works on the HyCam. Is this the same hack that works on 2004-2005 Prius, or something new?
