labworks shows the thickness is 0.086 inches (2.2mm) in an eBay image

 

They didn't mention the thickness of the shield. I'm just gonna ask you since you already got it. Can you actually bend the shield by your bare hands?

They show it in the 3rd picture down: s-l1600.jpg The thickness is between 1/16 & 1/8 inches (actually 11/128") so yes you could probably bend an un-installed panel. Remember the aim is to SLOW down and/or to DETER the theft.

I don't have one yet as we may end up selling the Prius. If we don't then I may get one but only after replacing the battery pack.

 

I didn't see that part so yes that .085" of an inch. Yes your absolutely right in slowing down the thieves. I'll still look around for something even atleast 1/8 and if not, then Ill just get this.
on top of this I have another problem which I don't know if the replacement catalytic assembly will fit my car...
Maybe you can help me out on this one. I was looking at a catalytic converter replacement and I got an email back from the seller saying it might not fit my car. see the message below.
But I come to think about it they should be all the same. I got my car used at the Toyota dealer. Its an 07 prius with all the complete package including leather seats, jbl system and the alarm. but its not a touring. The salesman told me its a package 6. CCG Prius specs whatever that means. What I'm trying to say is the conversion was probably done before it came to the US. Anyways this is what the seller told me....

From whom are you buying the catalytic convertor? The shields don't include cats. The lowest price I found on Amazon was $114 for a Federal cat.

In regards to the catalytic seller, it was somewhere else that I was trying to buy from. In the link you gave me, what are those highlighted numbers below?
All I want it to fit the catalytic. we actually don't require a smog check here. But atleast I want to put a catalytic so it will help clean the air. would you think this ones you sent is gonna work?

It looks like the cats are one piece units from manifold to catback exhaust so you might have to remove the unit, carefully cut out the old cats, then weld in the new cats. To me it would be easier to replace the whole unit as I can't do any welding. My Miata's cat is a bolt-in type between the headers and catback which is MUCH easier than welding.

I think the numbers are OEM converter numbers, but they could be older numbers from that vendor

 

Mine was fairly thick, it didn't bend on its own in just holding it, and it arrived undamaged after traveling across the US in just cardboard so it is rigid enough. I was going to say about .090 as a guess between 1/16 and 1/8. It seems plenty thick, I don't think anything thicker would be any better. If you are concerned about it getting cut open you may want to try and find a stainless steel one, but I think this aluminum one will stop most all people unless they steal the car and do it elsewhere or they have all the time in the world.

I just had to replace the "catback" section of my exhaust. The cat is connected to the back with a clamp, and then bolted to the manifold section. No welding required, but the replacement piece I purchased had to have the pipe "expanded" to slide over the pipe coming from the cat.
