    Most Americans would find this name incongruous.Blowback is a bitch.
    Most Americans would think that they had their freedom and
    they ran away from it.

    I'll have to spend some time trying to find out what this thing is called, now that I found it ---

    Traffic Circle in Tehran, Iran

    Standby ---

    OK, here's the Wikipedia entry.

    Azadi (Liberty) Monument

    I had to go to Wikipedia directly to get this link - Googling variants of Azadi, Liberty, Freedom Monument only brings up travel blogs and travel agencies. Why is something of this stature so obscure???? Is our Western bias against Iran THAT strong that it inhibits references? Wow.

    I'll leave the field open to whomever has got something good ;) to post next ---

    Since were looking at traffic circles, here is one I came across in my many searches.

    Note: There are 5 subcircles in the main circle. Also, there are several clues in the photo.

    I saw that one too while searching, so will bow out. Put something like this in any major U.S. city and you'd do very well buying scrap metal futures!

    Not only is the circle a nightmare, everyone is driving on the wrong side of the road.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...p;z=18&om=1

    It is the Swindon Magic Roundabout.

    Here is the new site. The traffic circle is not of interest, but a speed bump relative is.

    After the previous picture, you come to this one. Both are part of the same larger item.

    [attachmentid=11581]

    Consider this a hint for the previous posting.

    All you need is a little endurance and I think you will get it.

    Here is the next turn!
    [attachmentid=11582]

    A later post will give it away, but let the mystery continue for a while.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(efusco @ Sep 21 2007, 10:14 PM) [snapback]516040[/snapback]</div>
    These two chicanes were added in 1990 to reduce speeds on this section.

    Maybe this will help, this is one of the more famous/familiar locations.

    Oh, that's gotta be Le Mans. Let me go check.

    [attachmentid=11587]

    I was looking at that chicane, thinking it looked familiar, and then you posted the Dunlop bridge. :)

    Give me a few minutes, if you will, to find something else.

    Sorry for the delay. I hope I've done this right. I placed a marker as close as I could to the precise location.
    This is a famous person's house. Who and where?
    [attachmentid=11588]
    Yes, this is earth not maps, but the view is very similar.

    OK, thinking out loud:

    Close structure spacing & predominance of red roofing (spanish tile?) indicates likely non-USA city, Mediterranean climate.

    Famous person either not wealthy or very old (i.e. dead): residence is in high density section of town (or is birthplace).

    Proximity to Wal-Mart probably not a factor (assuming there's no Wal-Mart in the frame). I mention this because the Wal-Mart angle is just about as useful to the hunt as ti - ahem, the general paucity of clues provided.

    I'm gonna start with DaVinci - see where that leads ---

    'Non-USA', definitely. Nowhere near a Wal Mart; no idea about any bulls, either, if that's what you mean. :rolleyes:

    Likely is quite wealthy, but doesn't care about showing it.

    Still alive, not yet as old as Da Vinci, but getting there.
