Keep in mind I've flown airplanes in 49 of the 50 states, so my recognizing something does not necessarily locate it in CA.

I'm fascinated that you've flow PIC in the two least likely states to have done both before doing any other state!

The only state I'm missing is Alaska. I rented an airplane in Hawaii, so that's how I logged PIC in that state. The other 48 I've flown my own airplanes to. At some point I'll put the 180 on floats and take it up to Alaska (need to replace the engine first).

I've been to Alaska - rode my bike from Fairbanks to Anchorage in an AIDS fundraiser in 2000 - but our plans to charter a Beaver afterward fell through due to poor weather.

You're right about hints giving away the game - it took a little sleuthing on Google but "largest waterfall in a geographic area where water only seeps, drips, oozes or putrefies" quickly turned up an oil rig drilling miscalculation and the conversion of a salt mine into a big mess: Lake Peigneur

Let's see, wide river in a fertile valley bordered by desert - hmmmmm - it did take me awhile, had to rent an eletronic xebec and do a long voyage upstream to Al Uqsur, Egypt, on the Nile River. Nothing will ever top Wildkow's toy airport - THAT has been THE pick of the game so far, but I'll see what can be done.

OK, try this one. The satellite resolution in this area is poor, but nonetheless this airport is world famous, even though very few people (relatively speaking) ever pass thru it or go to it as a destination.
