I think the shadow is a separation between different aerial shots... it's where 2 images were stitched together. I think the real hint is the little island in the middle of that bay. It looks like there might be a structure on it. I have no idea though.

Hoo boy, that one's way too easy for me, I remember those volatile days like they were yesterday! I'll let someone else get this (except if it takes too long I'll leap in with the answer). MB I'd like to propose Rule #4, incidentally, a rule that depends entirely on honesty as it's unenforceable, but here goes: if you recognize a landmark straight off, don't leap to answer it, but give others a chance to work it out. Part of the fun of this game is the detective work. So while you recognize the landmark because it's in your backyard (or, as in Wildkow's case, it IS your backyard), others won't know what it is and will have to search it out, and for me at least, that's a major part of the enjoyment of the game. Just my suggestion. Mark Baird Alameda CA

The photo looks as if it's from America in the 70s given the style and Black Panther type of angry black dude. The white guy is obviously a judge, and it looks like he's being held hostage by the black dude. I tried several unsuccessful search terms and eventually Googled "judge hostage 1970" figuring I'd cycle through the years of the 70 decade. That ended up being the ticket. First hit was my friend Wikipedia talking about a hostage situation with Judge Harold Haley in Marin County, California and a Black Panther named George Jackson. Mount Fuji I guessed it pretty quickly, and the hint was a little over the top, but I had no idea it looked so cool from above! Go check out "Dreams" by Akira Kurosawa. Anthology movie, one of the segments is about Mt. Fuji. Overall very good movie. Next: [attachmentid=9005]
Not at all what I would have expected Fuji to look like...how interesting. You guys are on a roll. I seem to be empty of ideas. The Marin Co. one I searched google for judge hostage too, but came up empty thanks to there being 1.2 million results.
Yeah I did almost the same search terms for Marin Courthouse, but the real key was putting in a date. The B&W and the clothes they're wearing were enough to place the date roughly. WD, BB! p.s. Evan, that's a shot of my Pentium II chip, right?
