I don't like to use the wireless charging slot. It's not a good spot for cell reception, and I like to keep an eye on my phone screen.
I use a wireless charger cradle that fits neatly to the left of the instrument panel. It won't get me a ticket for distracted driving either.

Don't use the slot either. Have a magnetic phone mount attached to the tray lid of the center console. Works quite well.

I have an issue I haven't seen here. If there is a better place to post it, please advise me.

I am having a problem answering the phone when the phone is plugged into the data port. The calls mostly go to the phone instead of the audio system. Since I have drop out issues in some areas where I regularly drive, I usually plug in the data cable when heading into town. I'm assuming it is a user error (because usually it is). What in the heck do I press to answer the phone and have it answered through Android Auto? There is the green answer button on the head screen, the phone answer button on the steering wheel, and it seems like there is a third option, none of which work with any kind of regularity. If the phone is connected wirelessly, the answered call goes to the AA in the car (which makes no sense to me).

On occasion, I have the same problem calling out. I long press the audio button on the steering wheel, speak the command, and the voice says (through the speakers) calling xxxxx. When it connects, it is on the phone instead of the car system.

I have the Samsung s20 phone and the advanced audio system on the car if that makes any difference.

As a first step, I'd connect the phone to the car both wired and wirelessly and verify that in Settings -> Connected devices on your phone in both cases that all options are enabled for the car's access.

Good idea. I'll check that out.
