My sunglasses are polarized and when I look at the windshields of other cars, I can see the tint/polarizing/whatever embedded in the glass... freaky spot-like pattern... and LCD's on almost anything tend to look like they're broken, with weird stress-pattern looks to them. Very odd... totally freaked me out when I first got these sunglasses.

Are you aware of a way to almost double the brightness? I sure wasn't until someone told me. Here's how: Rotate the brighness wheel as far as it will go in the increased brightness direction. Then push the wheel beyond that. It will click and the screens become much, much brighter.

If glare on the Navigation screen is a problem for you, you can easily test the effectiveness of the PriusHoods screen shade by making your own with a piece of stiff paper, plastic, neoprene or anything that's handy.

Just cut a piece that resembles the PriusHoods shade and insert it into the slot around the Navigation screen (you might have to use a piece of tape to keep it in place), and then test it out for a few days to see if the shade sufficiently lessens the glare. And who knows ... you might even decide that your DIY shade looks decent enough to keep.

Here's what I did on my Gen II MFD (which is different than the Gen III Navigation screen), using some tape and 75 cents worth of neoprene ... it's no beauty, but it doesn't suck:
