TY John I think that pretty well establishes continuing subfreezing, Winter charging.

Inadequate building parameters will do that, if the house has correct insulation, an efficient HVAC and has no leaks it should be as comfortable as you would like to have it. what’s a warmer? a hip flask?

Well it's none of the above for this old house and I was referring to the heater built-in to the hybrid battery that's on below ~32f when plugged-in. Not something you would want to power from the battery itself but if it could be powered from the ICE/generator...

New to driving a Hybrid ct 200. Got the car in the fall mileage was great .This cold winter we are having is really affecting the mileage in a negative way. I am really questioning if a phev or a pure ev is in my future . These cars may not be the best choice for northern climates. I guess the old racing term horses for courses may be true.

    Or move south.

Plug-in works as the engine provides backup for batteries.

if you don't put the evse plug into the outlet, i don't think the battery heater will work.

how's the mileage in a gasser in this weather?

drive east a state or two and you'll find out.:p

Or read Johns 1701 post (above ). He’s been in the Prius hobby since the turn of the century.

My Granddaughter is in India right now, I’ll ask her, what was the question?

I have been preconditioning my temps for the last several weeks and my range has increased, from 25 to 30 miles. Of course this is not new England and I took the car out around 1700, after sitting in the warm Ca. sun.
So do charge, do pre-condition and do move to California. Especially where I live, Cool, GOLD discovery country. Only problem is: too many gold nuggets on the ground interfering with driving.

A pretentious, esoteric acronym for "engine", with a couple of pure cargo-cult adjectives: "internal" and "combustion".

It saves three letters, requires Cap Lock, and leaves most English speakers scratching their heads.

Like a lot of acronyms, it leads to disjointed usage, for example: "ICE engine".

I just pray that damn ground hog does not see his shadow. Oh, wait, do I want him to see his shadow. I think if he sees it we will have 6 weeks more of this mess. If he does not we only have a month and a half of this stuff left.

Agree, I hate acronyms, unless, the ones in use are spelled out with the article. What worse is the younger set even use them in their conversations.
