Gas stations & pumps vary so u may have gotten a late click(slight overfill) on your last fillup. That could be one of the reason your actual mpg is higher than the indicated(computer). It is very uncommon as normally the actual is about 2-3 mpg less than what's indicated, so the computer is almost always overstated.

Just signed up and installed the android app. Their mobile app should make it easy to log the numbers at fill-up time.

Also added the Fuelly signature. Had to hack it a bit since I don't have a fuel-up yet.

You are right on the contrast. The Navigator is now known as the "Yard Ornament". It rarely gets driven. I can't get rid of it because I do still have a need for it. The Prius while an awesome car is unable to haul a gaggle of 9-year-old girls to the mall or cheerleading. Keep in mind, there's all that "stuff" that has to travel with them.

In addition the Prius can't pull a trailer... well it probably could but it wouldn't be good for the Prius, the trailer or the driver.

Thank you for both of your replies! I guess I was just a little impatient and wanted my signature to be updated immediately ;)

I just added in another fill up! It's funny, I don't have as much anxiety going to the pump anymore since I've gotten my Prius (coming from 1998 4Runner) haha. It's the best!

I think you can enter a partial fill up? Or simply delete that fill up and on the next one...hit the tab that says I missed a fill up. I am guessing here since I have not done that yet.

Just did the first fill-up in the Prius. 505 miles on the first tank. Actual MPG was 51.3 MPG, vs 52.5 MPG on the display. But since the dealer filled the tank to begin with, there could be more variance between actual and what the display reads.

All the same, pretty happy with 51.3. That's probably about 80% in-town driving, 6 miles back-forth to work, nine stoplights/slow-downs/turns worst case scenario, five slow downs/turns if I hit all the lights green. This was in Eco-Mode.

I don't own a Gen III ... but I'll chime in here anyway with my "fuelly-link"; that is if I'm doing this right ...

    Mithril (Toyota Prius) | Fuelly

Actually, it was shortly after this thread was started - OR another, very similar one - that I looked into fuelly and updated ALL my fill-ups going back to August, '08. Working on it anywhere from 20-30 minutes at a time, it took me about three weeks to get all the info entered at the site, but well worth the effort, I think. It's a REALLY neat site!

There IS a "partial fill-up" "button" near the bottom of the "add fuel-up" page, but I've never used it. Something you COULD do is the following: when you DO fill-up the next time, you can "edit" the errant entry by COMBINING the appropriate info - such as 0.969 gals + 8.500 gals = 9.469 gals - into one entry ...

To be honest with the Prius I am not sure how useful a partial fill up is. Even at a 10 gallon fill up a 50 cent difference is less a pain at 50mpg vs 20mpg.

There's an import facility that allows you to add a fill-up history by creating a csv. The format information's here: https://www.fuelly.com/csv-format.gas

If you track your mileage in a spreadsheet anyway, it's easy to create another spreadsheet in the right format.

I've never done a partial fill-up with my Prius but I have on other cars. One time I forgot my wallet & I only had a few bucks on me so I put in in to make sure that I could get home! The point was that it work s great to just combine the partial fill-up with the next fill up for Fuelly purposes.

Wow! Just 69 cars away from taking over the number five spot from the Honda Accord....
