I spoke with GreenTec and confirmed their NEW cells are cylindrical batteries. (similar to D cells)
The New cells are not OEM Toyota cells.

Owners can check with Toyota parts departments at dealerships in your area.
They may find that Toyota's retail price is not much more than any of the non-OEM or quality used modules.

Yeah, considered that option, especially since Greentec is definitely taking my old battery and recycling the good cells. I just don't have time to work on cells myself at the moment, and I need this car running ASAP.

This sounds like a better option than what I was considering, I'm looking at a used battery installed with 24 month warranty for $1500. I'll look into it!

Yeah, Greentec is 30 days, but tallprius was talking about GreenBean, not sure what their warranty transfer policy is.

Sorry what happened? Sounds like the GB battery been working out for them, besides the rattle I guess.

Thanks, I had missed the tricky fine print about warranty and 30 days transfer to next owner but i will be keeping Prius for 2-3 years until I find a loaded 2015 Prius V.

When companies see feedback like that, they drool, follow suit & dial back on their warranty because it reduces their product liability and save money in the long run because they know customers are already happy even with a shorter warranty.

For anyone who's curious GreenBean Lifetime warranty is transferable once with the sell of the vehicle if you go through the transfer process within 7 days of the sale.

Greentec is swapping my battery out now, went with 2 year warranty to match my expected time with the car. Seems like GreenBean would be a good option as well if they service your area.

    Excellent observation (y)

Yes, OP bought a greentec, then @tallprius nearly jacked the thread with another brand. Possibly confusing the two companies, like myself. Wasn't that difficult, as I wouldn't buy either of the products offered :cautious:

I don't think discussing 2 different companies with similar strategies of offering warrantied installed rebuilt or reconditioned batteries. A warranty is only as good as the company that's behind it.
Green Bean, with a single location doing everything remotely. and there doesn't seem to be much company (no address on website, not even listed as at their current location though they told me they recently moved to 3221 Durham drive suite 107 Raleigh NC. Battery Box Raleigh is also at the same address. Green Bean is making me too nervous - i'm imagining a ponzi scheme in which for a few year they sell more and more batteries essentially financing the warranties (as well as large salaries or profit sharing for the principals) with sales but a few years down the road as all those reconditioned lifetime warranties start to fail they close up there one shop and go into bankruptcy.
Greentec seems to offer more realistic warranties (48 month for new cells seems like a reasonable period), has 17 locations and online searching seems to come up with about what i'd expect from an internet based growing company.

I was not trying to Hijack this conversation about GreenXXX battery company or the GreenZZZ battery company, just wanted to tell of my personal experience with a rebuilt battery install last week. Prius is still running with no codes.
A response to my post from a prius chat member revealed that one companies "lifetime" battery warranty actually a bit limited - which was good information. A rebuilt battery from old cells is probably a gamble and a warranty is only good if the GreenXXX or GreenZZZ company is still in business in 3 years.

It's only been a few days with my reconditioned battery from GreenTec, I think about 230 miles so far. Things are fine, no codes, my gas mileage is maybe a little better than I was getting right before the codes, not by much.
Best tank was around 46.5mpg, more like 44 was a consistent average, it was down to 41 when the codes started flying, and now I'm around 42-43 230 miles into the reconditioned battery. I expected it to be better than before, I've got a good code reader and am trying to figure out which app to get (I've got an iPhone), PriusDr sounds popular. But I want to see if this new battery is doing ok, I need to research more here in priuschat about what exactly to look for, so far I understand that each cell/pack needs to be pretty close in voltage to the rest for everything to work, charge/discharge, together smoothly. Whether or not I can see some red flags in the readings I want to at least ask GreenTec how gas mileage should be after getting their reconditioned battery.

I doubt Greentech will give you any hard info on a gas mileage increase, too many other factors.

Dr. Prius is cool and has a nice battery life test, I haven't really used it beyond that though. I use the free hybrid assistant app daily to monitor battery temp and charge. Your voltages are probably fine if you aren't throwing any codes. I wouldn't start worrying about it until your warranty gets closer to ending, but doesn't hurt to learn about the battery a little.

@TMR-JWAP has battery monitoring tools and testing drives he likes to verify his rebuilds.
