I'm in the middle of doing an on car MG2 replacement. The car made noice when braking and accelerating. Also had codes P3125 and P3009. The stator is definately burned. While waiting for the replacement to arrive I dropped the transmission pan to clean it all up.

Little slimy but not to bad except I found a little surprise. There is a small ball bearing on the bottom of the pan. Hoping somebody might be able to help me identify it. Thanks 2015-07-15 13.20.04.jpg 2015-07-15 13.20.12.jpg 2015-07-15 13.20.17.jpg 2015-07-15 13.21.46.jpg

I'm heading out to the carport to change the trans & motor oil this morning on my 02 w/ 200k miles on it. I suspect that previous owner followed whatever the dealer told her so it's probably been done before. This is a fairly nice thread that warrants an occasional bump, even tho it's ancient. It's an oldie but a goodie. I'm using this stuff

    Mobil 1 55221 3309 Automatic Transmission Fluid

I realize this is an old post, but wondering if you photo guide is still available. Its currently a broken link. I have a 2002 prius that I find nothing in the records showing a service has been completed and its showing issues. About to embark on this service and thought the photos might be helpful. Thanks

I have a 2002 Prius that I bought used and based on the records I have, I don't think the transaxle fluid has ever been changed. I decided to drop the pan to clean it thoroughly and it looks like it was a good idea. There was an extensive amount of crud attached to the magnet, see video [IMG]

Here is a video of the underside of the transaxle prior to me cleaning it up and putting the pan back on.

Attached are some photos that I also took and you can see to the left side of the glob on the magnet that there were some shavings too. Additionally, one photo of the magnet after I cleaned it as well as the pan after I cleaned it up.

@3prongpaul This post is frequently linked in threads about Gen 1 transaxle fluid replacement but the photo guide link to 3prongpower.com is broken. Perhaps you still have that content and it could be reuploaded?
