My 2013 Prius 2 hit 200K mile today. Here is the history: New HV battery at 184K for $3,105 and just replaced original lead acid (made in Japan) battery this morning myself. Nothing other than regular maintenance, filters, wiper blades, tires. Front rotors and pads at 180K+, rear pads are still at 4mm out of 8mm. Oil change every 10K. I have not replaced spark plugs, radiator fluid or transaxle fluid. It does not burn oil yet (knock on wood). My next thing is to do these things. Dealership replaced HV battery filter and cleaned its fan when exchanging the HV battery. Link:
Joaquim Silva congrats on 200k! I was wondering if you have had any thoughts on why your HV battery died? I mean, it's obviously got age and use on it but not too bad. Just curious if anything has happened that you suspect could have caused it to go bad? Thanks! Stephen
2010 Prius III 1) No, but Check Hybrid System light came on at 192K past summer. Have been driving with bad battery since. 2) No 3) No 4) Yes, changed front brake pads after 120K 5) 53 summer 46 winter 6) 15K Synthetic 0W-20 7)
2010 prius Yes to all the above. OCC done, really needs it on all of em! rerouted longer pcv hoses, brakes at 180k, transaxle fluid change and really stunk at 165k, changed pcv at 165k, new spark plugs at 165k, 12v battery now a yellow top, original lasted 7-8 years. change oil every 10k mobile1 full synthetic Burns 1/2 a qt. by then if I don't top off, Intake cleaned out, egr cooler cleaning, intake manifold cleaning, cleaned throttle body. New wipers, brake fluid flush, recently replaced 14 modules and then 6 more for fun! I over ordered! Use the wonderful HybridAutomotive system to charge balance and discharge traction battery. Ive always gotten a steady get 50 mpgS,Even as battery failed one really cold day! The computer really lnows what to do! Drive and enjoy! There really isn't a better car built! That I own.
What happened to this thread? 272,000 Miles + and going, and going. New HV battery from Project Lithium at 170,000 just because...didn't need it. New 12 volt battery due to trailer wiring box short and killing the perfectly good one at 220,000 Head Gasket at 166,000 It needed it when I purchased the car in 2021. Original brakes, Spark plugs at 200,000 and again at 240,000 and again at 270,000. The 2nd set was a cheap brand. Transmission fluid at 180,000 and with every other oil change until it was red, not black on the change. Mobil 1 Hybrid 0w-20 as needed. Sometimes 5000+ miles, sometimes less. I tow a trailer often and have towed 2000 LBS hundreds of miles through the mountains. Thousands of miles with a heavy trailer. The rock quarry guys take pictures. I don't even believe it!! QS2 Quantum VVT Solenoid made a huge difference at 230,000 Highly recommend this product. New Radiator and water pump at around 240,000 because I changed the fluid and didn't burp it right so I through unnecessary $ at it until I read Mendel's thread. Swapped the ECU with one pre-programmed with latest software updates at 271,000 due to a weird shifting issue. It helped and bumped the MPG's up a fraction. Hard to tell because now I drive faster Towing a trailer MPG is about 32-35 MPG. Without the trailer 40-45 MPG. Obviously I am rough on vehicles. This little Prius has taken the abuse better than any other vehicle I have owned. It is a better "truck" than my trucks.
Yes, Twice. Once with the new head gasket 166,000 and again at around 238,000 along with an oil catch can and ready to do it again at 273,000. Forgot to mention that.
