I later had charging problems with the rebuilt pack. I attribute this to having an older version of the HV ECU, which is on board the pack assembly.

I had the Denso part shown in on the Red label.

If you have such, just do some preventive maintenance and get the newer design, with the black label.

Since my post on Feb 4th, I have not read the wonderful comments by Panicos and Tombukt2 (is there a pun there? is he from "Timbucktu"?)

    More soon.

Kind of an old thread. The C1259 and C1310 in the thread title are generic codes; they only mean there are some specific trouble codes in a different ECU (the hybrid-vehicle control one) that will say what the issue really is.

If somebody sees those two codes but not the HV control ECU codes that go with them, using a better scan tool to get those actual codes will always be a good first step. There's a thread that reviews some different tools and says which can read those codes:

That way, you can even avoid any time fussing in the battery, if you see that the codes are about something else. Or if they are about the battery, then you know you're not wasting your time there.

Panicos - No, I did NOT follow that protocol. I used the guidelines found at
    https://batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-807-how-to-restore-nickel-based-batteriesI

I had used the Hobby King charger, and went down to 1.2v for the MODULE. that's 0.2v per cell.

Now I use a Tenergy 180T, which can do 16 cells at once, so I can do the whole "block"-- 2 modules.
I can even leave the orange busbar in place.

Now, previously (#21), I said that I thought the black label was the newer technology. But upon checking the label, the red one says 89890-47092, while the black one is 89890-47090.

When I went to eBay, someone says that that ECU monitors voltage and temperature.

My symptoms right now are that it charges great, into the green bars, then suddenly drops into magenta. (!)
It is almost like there is a short.

I am not get very useful codes from Techstream, and I cannot seem to buy a bluetooth ODB2 unit that I use with my Dr Prius app. I had a Panlong, but it failed. I sent it back, and the 2nd one also failed. Lately I tried a brand from Amazon, but it says "socket closed".

Someone suggested a dongle that runs about $60 as being more reliable. I will have to get more data.

ChapmanF, thank you again. Your comments are esteemed by me, and I'll keep everyone posted.

Folks, there are a dozen or so members whose advice is just invaluable. ChapmanF is of this calibre, IMHO.

Dr Prius is handy for viewing "live" battery data (it can also datalog to a csv file). I got a BAFX products device - has worked fine for me.

If you want, you can view and record (datalog) battery data in Techstream as well. Just isn't handy to watch it live.

If the State Of Charge is changing rapidly, then you want to watch battery block voltages and see what they are doing.
