    The value of a junk car to someone who can DIY is significantly higher than to a person who can't. And 97% of people can't DIY on a Prius.

    The yards around here are filling up with 1G Prius, while 2001-2003 Echos are still on the road.

    car value is more a question of what is it worh to you. Yes, you may find a 800 dllar car and get it to run great. You might spend more. But all in all if you were to spend $5000 to get it up and running and it works for 5 years . thats 1000 a year....plus gas and other services... all depends on what your willing to spend
