I like the production version a little bit better than the prototype one. They shrink the pack a little bit so that there is a small pocket under the deck for storage. However, I still puzzle why a small Lithium pack for 15 mile range would take up almost the entire compartment under the deck including the spare tire well. We can fit 8KWH Enginer Lithium pack in the same space for 40 EV mile range.

I think there are some serious cooling ducts to cool the battery packs and also a very sophisticated battery management system and contactors all wrapped into 1 package. The electric motor is rated at 80 horse powers. That's about 60KW. Also, just because the electric motor is rated at 80hp doesn't mean it'll output 80hp. It has to get 80hp of electricity. The preproduction Pruis uses 350V battery packs. I'm not sure how many volts the production models use. For the sake of argument, let's use 350V system. Even at 350v, 80hp would draw nearly 200 amps. It's not just the battery in the enclosure. These are preproduction batteries.
