Take your rear seat out (takes 1 minute) and fold the seat behind the drivers seat down move the upholstery aside and take a picture you will see plastic gas lines follow them back, they go to the gas tank. Yes it is a little mind boggling but of course in a perfect world gas won't leak here. The bottom of my seat was wet from gas.

This is jimbo138. I posted about gas in the cabin of my Prius 2010. After taking out more of the upholstery I found the area behind the drivers seat with plastic tubes venting through the bottom of the passenger compartment were not gas lines, rather they are battery vents. Sorry for the confusion. I do know that the rear seat was soaked with gas on the bottom of the the drivers side. This happened when the tank was full. I am now keeping only a few gallons in the tank and have had no signs of gas in this area. I removed the back seat to keep an eye on it. There still is a very distinct smell of gas in the car. My new theory is that there is a connection somehow between the gas tank/lines and the passenger compartment. I will fill the tank and am sure that gas will be "running and visible" behind the drivers seat on the floor pan. Unfortunately I don't want to fill the tank until it gets warm enough to leave the windows open. Since I live in the northeast I won't be able to find out more until May. If anyone knows more I certainly would appreciate an update.
