But what? The market won't stay down.

Prices will climb again. And as the technology advances, the cost of gas becomes less of an issue. The new Prius is just a week away from debut. It raises the efficiency bar while also strengthening the hybrid market.

Actually as darelldd posted, in my/our neck of the woods, gas prices did in fact hit $5 before they hit $2 (I too am waiting for them to hit $2; they are knocking on the door, but not there yet).

Actually, I think that the price of gas is a strong influencer on the pace of advances in technology. If gas hadn't gone to $4 - $5 range, we wouldn't be seeing so many new hybrid cars from so many manufacturers.

Sure, I'll bite. It could be a couple of years off - at least where I live - but gas at $2 a litre is only a matter of time. ;)

Gas? What's that? Oh, yeah, the stuff that some folks still put in their cars.

The other day, one gas station sort of near me was nearing $4/gal for regular. Today, it was past it ($4.03/gal, IIRC). Premium at many stations has been past $4/gal for awhile.

Cheapest on http://www.sanjosegasprices.com/ are two Costcos at $3.75/gal. The station I usually go to is tied for the 2nd cheapest w/many stations right now at $3.79/gal.
