disagree. a lot of places use and sell electricity in one form or another, but are not required to sell it to anyone.

around here, electric companies are private entities (public corporations) with a small amount of government regulation.

Neat little car, but at 30K pound sterling, I don't think so. Inexpensive econobox ICE car all the way against this one. Will still be ahead financially at the end of useful life.

 

I did have Honda's REV 1 of this clown car ... some 47 years ago - all 600cc's of its puny air cooled motorcycle ICE.


. . . . & at 6'5" (maybe even an extra inch of height back then in the 1970's) it was a sight to see, as a giant gets out of such a horrible clown car - doomed to fail around the 60K mile mark due to poor timing chain, likely to break. A $1,300 repair bill ... back when $1,300 actually was equal to real money. The two subsequent hondas (one in the 1980's the other in the 1990's) went much better, needless to say. All that to say - Honda forgets .... that their prior owners did NOT forget. Why would they want to evoke memories of their worst POS !?!

I disagree. IMHO, Tesla will make a CCS-to-Tesla adapter so we can use the public networks ... if we can afford it. I've found the EVgo and Electrify America chargers expensive compared to the SuperCharger. I've measured both . . . you?

So is water, and yet you still have to pay for it.
Tesla has already opened up their network to others. No one is willing to help pay to maintain and expand the network in order to get access. They rather leave the heavy lifting to some third party companies, or are forced to as part of a massive legal settlement for breaking emission and fraud laws.

Keep in mind that the difference in fuel cost is bigger in Europe, and the cheapest cars there tend to not have the most efficient engines.

 

How about the Singulato iC3 186 mile (NEDC) EV based on the Scion iQ? It's going into production in China. If the price is right, I think small city-car EVs make a lot of sense for commuting and grocery-getting.

 

a lot of sense does not free market make. Why do you think all of the pickup trucks and SUV type land barges are running around the landscape. A good part of the logic is that if you have a couple tons off steel all around you, & you sit higher above ground, then you are safe.
This was 2 blocks from our home yesterday, out my dirty windshield (sorry).



3 out of 3 were suv's & 2 out of 3 got tossed over. That's why EV's with nice low skateboard batteries are safer when they get hit hard like this .... weight - AND much lower center of gravity.

Apart from costs, a small car is easier to drive and park in a city. Speeds are usually low so accidents are less serious.

 

Same can be said about bicycles, yet people prefer convenience over costs if they can afford it.

 

It is much better than Toyota's EV version of the iQ. That one only had 53 miles of range.

 

I think that Tesla just got the deal to sell a variant of those to Disney

This EV never made it to the production but according to the company developing it, there is quite a bit of demand in JAPAN

On the other hand GINA looks coooooool!

 

Forget looks, the GINA was cool for how it embraced the use of stretchable fabric to replace the sheet metal. Notice how there was no gaps for the door hinges, nor one for hood at all?


The Rimono just replaced the sheet metal bits with frames supporting canvas. Saves weight for a max 35mph speed car, but likely not once you start needing to meet crash standards for faster cars.
