Free T-shirt from GM

What would you have them do? Pump the gas for you?

Do they list the fact that a car can take E85 in the manual? Check.

Are they launching a huge public information campaign to get the point across? Check.

It's okay tho... I know you like to bash them for the sake of bashing them.

It is an opportunity for GM to leapfrog Toyota as far as the public's perception of what being 'green' is. To my knowledge it has caught Toyota flat-footed.

 

What do you mean? Do you actually have to pump the gas yourself? I'm confused...

 

i saw you guys talkin about the "live green go yellow" promotions and i've reading up on it and think it's a good cause. does anyone know where i can get a t-shirt from. they don't have them anymore on the web site but i'm sure someone is still selling them somewhere.

 

I don't see anything on that webpage about a T-Shirt. Perhaps they're all gone.

 

I would've worn the shirt with gas I'd never use untill it was mandatory (2012 estimated) but it wasn't free the site said $15

I just got mine last Thursday (24th of August). Didn't take them too long, eh? :lol:

 

From what I understand, the cars that are manufactured for this fuel are not even manufactured to handle this type of fuel so far as corrosion is concerned. That fuel can corrode car parts more readily than other types of fuels and because of the limited supply of this fuel they figured no one is going to be using the fuel so they didn't spend the extra money to manufacture these cars to even handle the fuel. The reason that they manufacture these cars is to provide them with a loophole in which they can roll out more of there fuel sucking monsters. I guess Toyota is going to be taking advantage of this loophole within the next year or two as well. I'll have to try to remember where I read this....National Geographic maybe?

They also get lower mileage than they could if they were set up to handle only E85 instead of gasoline or E85.

It's a nice T-shirt so I wear it. I like the color and the design. GM stands for Grand Mal which they've been suffering from for quite some time now.

Not so. We've had plastic fuel tanks, lines etc. on new Cadillacs for several years now. All that is need beyond that is a senor and programming. GM training tells us E85 will produce less horsepower and will not go as many miles per tank as gas but when it becomes mainstream (if ever) it will be a third the price of gas. That is the part that everyone forgets is the lower cost if it ever arrives. The car companies want it because it's a big easy for them. Think about it. Non corrosive fuel system is already in place. A little more software and they can go on building the same big vehicles they are already building. For your information from the Gm green (yellow) page

Starting in 2006, GM will produce more than 400,000 flexible fuel vehicles annually -- vehicles that can also operate on gasoline or E85 ethanol without any modifications or special switches.


Most 2000 and new GM cars require just a minor mod to use this fuel alternative. E85 isn't a terible idea. It is the end all either. It's a crutch that allows the big three to continue status quoe but the oil company will you guessed it there......
