Re: Forum Complex? Gosh you are right...stupid noobs....who do they think they are? whos' Danny by the way
Danny is the admin/founder of PriusChat. I was a bit confrontational in my question, but I see this again and again. I moderate at CleanMPG and I'll post a topic/article for their front page...more than occasionally a n00b or someone that generally is not that active screams DEMANDING we do or don't do something: - We must present a POV as right/farther right than FoxNews - We must present a POV as left/farther right than Huffington Post - when an event like the Fukushima meltdown is front page news for an extended amount of time, demand to never report on it again....same for the Toyota unexpected acceleration, the BP oil spill, TARP money for GM/Chrysler - can't cover a topic like climate change - can't link a news source like Fox, Huffington, sites that have some subscriptions, etc. My point is it's absolutely impossible for a forum to please everybody. That and why newcomers think they can demand significant changes to a forum? To me that is like in person walking into a neighbor's home and telling them they have to put their home thru an extreme makeover - really? Same with a restaurant or other place of business you don't completely agree with....you either return or go elsewhere.
Chuck, our goal at Priuschat is to be more right than Fox, more left than Huff and more centric than both. We aim to please as many people as we disenfranchise. We intend to chase everyone away except those who choose to stay. In the end, we will only allow those posts that meet our strict criteria as well as those which don't.
is that hub centric or lug centric? i like how some threads take a 90 degree detour to a place that has nothing to do with the original questions.
Tony, I might have come off more serious than intended and was backing off of casualvic a bit, even if it was not obvious. I can't get my way all the time in real life, yet a number of people at times seem to think they can on the net...that's my point.
You were a bit sarcastic and abrasive in your response, but I do respect you responding and justifying. It seemed like you were attacking me on "demanding" something from a mod. I came into this forum like I do every other, cool and open to learn. In my intro (newbie) section I had someone critisizing the grammar/tittle of my post..."Casualvic signing in" which being in the military when we report to a new unit or assignment we usually say the phrase " Private Snuffy signing in for duty" or reporting for duty. In my experience with forums I see the list I put in the begining of this topic too many times. Then I see regular people "noobs" (which I hate that stupid word) get bashed by mods and "friends." All I do is read allong as I nod my head. So I made this thread and already see who those characters are by the responses. I don't want to come here and ruffle feathers or burn bridges, but good grief.. thank you to all the cool calm folks here!!
casualvic, I got a bit hard, but it comes from many times from others in the past that join a new forum and seem to think they are the admin....maybe I let that skew things and assumed you were going to do the same. Sorry I came off as harsh as I did. ______________ On some of those that join demanding the forum promote their POV, it tends to be fringe viewpoints like Beck or Olberman that act as if 80% agree with them. In my experience, the more fringe/extreme the POV, the more oblivious they are not that many people out there agree with them.
thank you silica, grammar girl will make me a more productive member of forums. You are cool! thank you
sorry, but that rhyme is weak sauce. blue/cute is a slanted rhyme, meaning they share a vowel sound but not consonants. but i guess that is not a grammar issue, so carry on...
Dude. I thought I was being funny too. Looks like the ambiguity of the internet strikes again! Alright, let's all watch a funny movie and get back to wondering why Vic wants to change Priuschat. (Vic, I'm kidding)
+100000 Around here there's more "disorderly conduct" than "absolute chaos" - I cna't be the only one who's ever posted on NASIOC.
