The Sonic has a tow rating in markets where it is still called Aveo. Actually a rating 100 pounds more(without trailer brakes) than the Tesla S's 1000lbs.

I still think it'll be a hit. It appears to be driven by people who weren't previously Prius owners. Your Volt, Leaf and S are high sellers in California and I wonder if that's more to do with the HOV benefits rather than the car itself. If sales were also high in New York, then I'd believe it more to do with the car than the benefits.

Our prices aren't boosted in the UK either, other than just import tax and sales tax, though that is running at 20% in the UK . Take those into account and generally our prices match yours, with the exception of the PIP, but that's another story.

Though all these plug in cars are all to be encouraged. They all help, and whilst petrol prices are low now and likely to be for a year or two, they'll go up just as quickly again.

volt and model S sell well here in austin, the leaf not so much but we are a hot place and leaf batteries are suspect in the heat. NY is not an adopter city, but Seattle, Portland, Atlanta get more than their share of plug-ins. Local means something too, so volt sells well in detroit, leaf in nashville, model S all over California.

The volt/ampera seemed to sell at a high price in europe along with the prius phv. That along with ford not selling phevs in europe (number 2 behind gm in the US in phev sales) left a hole for the outlander phev in europe that we simply don't have in the US. I do hope the outlander phev sells well here also, but it is a tougher market in the US.
