Re: taking off the tint. You need to have a heat gun. A hair dryer may work but it will be harder to remove the tint. If you dont have a heat source do not remove the tint period.

What you do is heat up the car for about 30 minutes so you have the heater running then crank up the car full blast with the heater. If it is summer time (it is not here in the Midwest it is cold, but if it is sunny or summer leave the car out in the sun.)

Then with the heat gun heat the windows for awhile and they should be warm from the heater and use FRESH razor blade to get under and slowly remove it.

You need to keep it hot at all times and go slowly. Depending on how long the tint has been on will determine how hard it is to remove. The older the tint the harder it is, IMO.

Also if you have cheap quality tint it is hard to remove. The better quality/more expensive is thicker and actually lasts longer and does not fade (what I have on my car) then the cheap stuff. The cheap tint will tear apart into pieces removing it so it is a pain in the nice person. The thicker tint will not break apart as easily so it is easier to take off.

A lot of the gummy adhesive residue can be removed by using ammonia window cleaner. It needs to have ammonia. Spray excessively all over the windows and let it soak for 2 min (yes it will be a complete mess).

Then use a fresh razor blade and slowly scrape it off. The adhesive is very messy and will resemble semen lol.

That's basically it. If you can remove it without too much excess adhesive that's the best because the removal of it with ammonia window cleaner is very very messy.

Dont use the heat gun on the windshield! The heat can crack the windshield due to being double pane.

I've done this before but each window typically takes 1-1.5 hours to do correctly.

If you do it yourself take extra caution with the back window and be even more careful. You do not want to damage the defroster grid. You use the same method still but go slow.

I peeled the side window tint off fairly easily. No heat gun required. It was a warm day and I peeled it off by hand while waiting to give a tour on one of my preserves. A little adhesive remover took care of any sticky stuff left behind.

If you are lucky enough to peel it off without a heat gun then that's awesome. I have not been quite so fortunately, and whenever I do not use a lot of heat the tint may come off, however; there is a lot of dried excess adhesive stuck to the glass.

There are a lot of different products to use to remove the adhesive. I always just use ammonia window cleaner as it is cheaper and does the job (actually many jobs).
