Your question shows that your electrical knowledge is pretty sparse, and that means such a DIY project could very well end up being an expensive disaster. You should consider having someone with adequate experience do the project. That might double the overall cost, but attempting to do it yourself could result in the ruin of your entire Prius electrical system.

Thanks for your advise, but seems like everyone will always have their first time. Plus, after understanding the installation. It is pretty much just stick a wire into the ECU (with the Lexus part, but I haven't got it yet so still clueless what it looks like), then run the same wire to the foglight thru that hole. Use a screw driver and tape the wire with it to get thru the hole and run that wire to the foglight and use a splice to connect it. I am good at reading instruction, this time it just confusing, because it doesn't tell me what kind of wire and how to connect the wire. There were 4, 5 or 6 different way shared by different people, but only hawkmoon77 was the whole process instruction. (other than how to connect the fog light with that 12v wire) The steps other shared were choppy. (not saying it's not good, but just not for people like me who need to see the whole picture to understand.) I am not going to do it by myself, my brother will do it with me, but I got to tell him what the instruction said and prepare the stuff for it since he is too busy to go with me. He rather want me to understand the instruction and just tell him what to do and he is well experience. But I do really thank you Jim, you just don't want me to hurt my 30k toy because you care!!!!!!!

Each bulb is 55W nominal, (so 110 W total):

Current = Power in Watts / Voltage
    Current = 110 / 12 = 9.2 A

So each lamp will draw approx 4.6 A. 18 gauge is sufficient for the individual wires leading to each lamp, partly because the current is split between the two lamps, and you also probably aren't going to be near other wiring harnesses, etc. However, for the single wire leading from the relay through the firewall and is then "split" to the 18 gauge to each lamp, I'll say this again from a previous post (since there are >40 pages to read now...):

Yes, it's called "Primary" wire. Home depot sells small packages of it, about 15-20 ft, in various colors and gauges. Should be on the shelves close to where they cut the bulk wire.

(Providing this info while ignoring my growing conern....:()

I went to Frys Electronic and got the wires. The smallest they sell are in 25 ft but I might need the extra wire when I do the hid

    Yo all,
Thought I would join the crowd and I ordered up the fog covers/inserts from parts.com. Will order up the Yaris kit as soon as the covers are on their way. Looking forward to getting rid of those truely ugly gray covers and adding a little more light to these dark winter days.
Looks like I will having everything I need when the parts come in. Thanks to all that have been priusing on this mod.

    Peter
[edit] 10/29 - Parts.com shipped covers. $78 total to AK. Having problems finding an ebay seller that will ship to AK the lights. Got a couple of messages into them.

11/2 - Got the fog inserts from parts.com. Have light units on the way from LA. Should be able to install this coming weekend.

OK I am thinking about fog light to my IV and I was thinking I would add it to the running light circuit. anyone have any thoughts on that? I think I would like the clean look of not adding another switch in addition of the look of the lights anyway.

Unless you bought it in Canada, you don't have a Running Light circuit. US models do not have DRL.

If you're talking about your low beams, yes, you could, but you'd need to use the low beam circuit to power the relay coil only, and find a different source for the fog light main current. The low beam circuits and wiring shouldn't be used for the additional 10A of fog light current.

I haven't started looking around under the hood for power, but do you think could we steal it from the jumper cable terminal?

You mean your parking light circuit? That is what I plan to tap into. But I also plan to add a switch. There will be times you don't want your fogs on at the same time I would think.

That's correct the low beam or the parking lights...

Great. So now we just need to find out which wire @ the ECU to tap into. Anyone know which one triggers just the parking lights @ the ECU?

Parking light (+ polarity) is a brown wire. Its at the 36 pin plug. Pin location #18 at the dash fuse box. I will add pictures of the exact location when I get a chance. That's how my fog lights are hooked up.

here is the location for B+ (power) at the fuse box under the hood. the yaris kit from ebay has a plug that just plugs right in.

I just put my fog lights on my car today. I am using the Toyota Parts but it doesn't seems to perfect fit. I do have some gap and I still can see the clip from the front. Anyone else got the same problem?

It's a silly long crazy thread with great moments of brilliance, combined with 95+% fluff - and no real consensus conclusion (meaning buy this - do this). Really a great thread - again, I just wish there was a way to edit the beginning topic to have the pertaining info. This is done in other forums - just wish there was something here........
