Fix A/C or Live Without? ;-)

I cannot even live without air-conditioning in San Francisco

I cannot imagine living without air-conditioning in Arizona or Texas during the summer in 110 to 115° day

About 20 years ago I drove a car to Las Vegas during the summer time and they were just having a heat wave my thermometer because I have lots of thermometers inside my car was 117° degrees driving 95 miles an hour on the freeway by the windows down.

I was stopping at every gas station getting a 32 ounce big gulp Slurpee for anything with ice in it . I never missed one gas station.

 

in the summer of '64, my dad drove us across country. brand new '64 impala convertible, no a/c.
we drove through the desert to vegas. (they sold water bags at the gas stations for the cars iirc)
we hit a sandstorm that filled the air cleaner and maybe the carb, and the engine died.
he took it all apart on the side of the road and got it restarted.
no one noticed the heat that i recall, but i was only 10. today, i have back up a/c to the back up a/c

 

In the summer of 64 my mom and then dad invented me in the backseat of the car.

But as I can recall on all our summertime trips the hot places I never noticed the heat. And could not live without air-conditioning now. I’m one of the few people on the ocean side of San Francisco where the fog rolls in every morning who has air-conditioning that runs

 

we did that in our cape cod home, just to reduce the humidity and condensation inside. i find that more uncomfortable than heat.
