First Morning with a Blocked Grill

Please be very careful, it sounds like you've figured it out by now, but your engine was probably way too hot. I don't see any need to block your grill at such high outdoor temps. You could/have/will do damage.

Also, you mentioned above getting to S3 quickly was easy, but S4 was harder to get to quickly. S4 is the same as S3, you just have to stop and let the engine idle, it's not time dependent.

Good luck, but geeeze Louise, take out the grill blocking already!!

Just to answer S3 to S4 transition, yes it is a pain. However there were times where it took place even without stopping the vehicle , but during gliding for more than 10 sec, specially when the load is little and without A/C.

I still think that grill blocking will have a positive effect on heavy rains. Having an automatic / remotely controlled grill block would be ideal in such situations, provided that we have a means of knowing the temperature. At the moment I do not have a suitable method to monitor the temp.
