Because Longo has no markup. Others have a $3,000–9,000 markup.

It is cheaper and has everything the other trims have except a few nondriving features like faux leather, sunroof, larger display, etc.

For me, the vastly inferior fuel economy and EV range on the XLE/XSE and Limited/XSE Premium is a deal breaker to begin with.

Longo cant be the only dealer w/o ADM. I initially had my eyes on a 2dr Bronco and remember seeing some Ford dealers not doing ADMs.

If Toyota is selling every higher trim Prius they ship to the US, they aren't going to shift production to the LE. If they can increase production, it will go to those higher trims until their demand is met.

Well, they are. Besides, I only want the Prius Prime SE in black, as I don't like any of the other colors.

They can still sell faster if they tailor the manufacturing to the local demand though. That would be better marketing.

Yeah I prefer cloth. And with 4th gen the pleather steering wheel was prone to peel.

Cars are being sold before reaching the dealer. They can't be sold faster.

This is the same situation as Tesla. Why make cheaper cars when you’re selling all you can make of the higher margin models?

I don’t blame Toyota. I’m sure they’ll bump production of lower end when manufacturing constraints are overcome, and demand is there.

We vote with every dollar. If people weren't willing to pay the price on a Tesla they wouldn't sell. But they are selling because people are willing to pay for them. IMHO we will see a cheaper Tesla. It might be 10 years but what will happen when the market is flooded?

Unless those earlier potential customers found something else in the interim.

They can always be sold faster. Besides, it will slow when more cars arrive. So far the dealers have received less than 1% of their annual allocation.

isn't that what @bisco just said?
Manufacturers nowdays can throttle back production so that resellers aren't left with multiple off-site parking lots full of cars that don't sell - like it was back in the day when GM got stuck with tons of unsold Hummers due to instantly skyrocketing gas prices.
we'll have to check back in 10 years to see if that pans out
    ;)
right ... theoretically they can sell them even before production begins ... the way Tesla does.
Not if production doesn't pick up. That requires enough chips, enough batteries etc - whatever else that Toyota may fail to acquire sufficient supplies for.
was that meant to be comforting or soothing? Since new cars typically start getting delivered around September of the prior year, that may amount to ½ of the Toyota's yearly supply. It's unlikely with 50% of the 1st year production only yielding 1% - that there's much comfort in horribly low production ½ way through production year- and rather lots of exasperation going on with potential buyers. More likely those perspective buyers will go elsewhere. What a shame.

    • Processing at Toyota Logistics Services at Port of Long Beach: one month
    • Queued for transit and in transit to dealer after the processing is completed: two weeks
A Toyota Ro-Ro docks at Toyota Pier at Port of Long Beach every other week or so, I believe.

Luckily so far all LEs have the parking sensors.

The sound systems on the LE and XLE are identical. Only the Limited is different, which adds a JBL amplifier and uses JBL speakers with two additional (eight instead of six) speakers.

I have JBL on my Gen 4 Limited. All it does is to add an amplifier and JBL speakers (with a couple of extra speakers). JBL is not premium sound in my opinion, and my non-JBL Gen 4 might have had a better sound. However, it is louder because of the amplifier, which also makes it easier to have hearing loss.

The small-display and large-display multimedia devices on Gen 5 seem to be identical except for the display size.

Oh, also, I am No. 1 on the waiting list for a Prius Prime SE.

If deliveries for the US are going to be of the same level as in Japan, there will less than 5000 Prius Primes coming to the US this year.

Any idea why others can track vehicle but I can’t? Also, is there a current delay on transport because of the severe weather in socal?

Probably because they gave you the wrong VIN.

There is no severe weather here.

Why do you prefer cloth? My experience has been that cloth stains easily even with just water. Plus seats don’t feel as comfortable. Unfortunately it looks like the LE now comes with softex covered steering wheel.
