thanks! i read the whole thing and the EP422+ sounds like a significant improvement. I also looked at that EP500 tire and realized fuel efficient cars will be soon riding on bike tires.

Yes they do get noisier when wore down, that is why I mentioned it. The increase in mpg is a small sample to go buy but is a good indicater of things to come. I just went from 35/33 to 38/36. Ride is still nice. Time will tell. I am going on a 2,000 mile trip at the end of May. That will be a good test.

I have been driving on the new tires for a tank or 2 now. The weather has been stormy and windy. So it has been between 42 and 44 on the highway. In town on a good day was really good. Hard to get a good reading with the weather.

I'd consider those if they made them in a 15" or 16" tire of the appropriate diameter. 15" rim / 24.7" diameter for the Prius, 16" rim / 25" diameter for the Leaf). Make them 135/xx/15 or 145/xx/16 for summer tires and 165/xx/15 or 175/xx/16 for all season tires.

If it saved fuel I'd be willing to switch from the 195mm and 205mm width tires I'm currently using.

Oh and while we are at it give me a closed wheel similar to the Kia Soul EV narrow enough to put these on.

Went to local Costco today, unfortunately their price is around $420 and discount tires quoted me $370. They don't do price match so I placed order with discount tires. Will post my feedback after I got them mounted.

I belief you will be happy with the tires. I have been getting 50 to 55 in city and I used to get 46 or so. Been driving on the highway in stormy weTher and have not felt any problems with wet roads.

So, how much pressure you put on those tires? I'm planning to put F42/R40 as I'm right now on those no brand cheap Chinese tires, my average mpg is around 50 combined.

    What about handling??

How would these compare to, say, Goodyear Assurance's handling-wise? I've got 60k on the 175/65R15 GY's and am trying to find out more about these E+'s - the tread pattern looks interesting.
    Costco quoted me $359 for 4 E+'s......
(my other option is the Energy Savers or non-LRR Pilot Sport A3 - all at Costco)

I got those tires mounted yesterday, drove for around 200 miles.

    Handling & Quietness
Compared to my previous one, cornering is smoother and easier, ride is a lot quieter on all speeds, especially below 70
Tires handles pot holes and rough surfaces better in general, but it could be a little bit noisy on rough surfaces.

    MPG:
It might be too early to say that, but I can feel the car is easier to start from complete stop. Also, under normal driving pattern, I noticed the car has less time under PWR range compared to before (if you understand what I'm sayin')

    Others:
    Stock 15" wheel
Current tire pressure is 40/38, will try 42/40 later and see how much difference it is.

I installed them in my 2013 prius and in the first full tank I'm averaging about 41 city and 53 highway... as weird as it seems that's what I'm getting, for me the car just feels a little bit heavy in the city and smooth in the highway... i was actually going to switch them to the energy savers that go on sale today at costco since I've only had them for about a week now but then the highway driving is leaving me undecided since it's really good...to give you an idea I've driven the car for 310 miles and i still have 3 fuel bars left.. i have my car at costco tire pressure 39 psi both back and front which I'm not sure if i should add a little bit more, switch to energy savers or stay the same

Imho, both are good tires, but the biggest factor of MPG is your driving style. I used to run on no brand, not LRR tires but still averaged 49.5 MPG for past 14K miles.
Now I'm with EP422+ and so far I have no complaint about it.

You're right about the driving style...i took it out both highway and city this morning now with 41 front 39 rear ...the 805 highway in san diego includes big hills so i did my best in driving style maintining 65+ but looking at the eco monitor and i manage to pull 61 mpg using ecopia plus

If you look on the Tirerack surveys EP422 (non plus version) is quite a ways down the list. Then again, our Michelin Pilot HXM4 are down even further, and I've been very happy with them. Makes you wonder what the range really is, between best and worst. Maybe too: people tend to pile on, once a tire gets a rep.

The Energy Saver has been offered for a lot of years now. Has there been any improvement in this tire? If not, it's getting a bit long in the tooth and I'd be inclined to go with the Bridgestone. Plus the Energy Savers are expensive and hard to get.

I went to Costco and they told me Michelin is out of stock on the Energy Saver AS tire, but Costco's local supplier showed 34 in stock. I bought 4 of them and the cost was $498.15, that is out the door installed price. It also includes road hazard ins. I'm running on the OEM Avids and they are a shade above being illegal tread acording to the Toyta Dealership. Costco is going to call me when they get the tires, I'll make an appointment to have them installed. I'll keep this thread posted on how the tires perform.

I may be making a trip to Florida from SoCal to see relatives, if so that will be around a 5200 mile round trip, so that will be a very good Hwy mileage test.

In a Canadian Costco I recall a very similar out-the-door price for those, WITH the $70 off promotion, on set of four. It should go ok, I've done it like that, just takes about a weeks wait.

Make sure they're using hidden weights, tho they very likely will, no problem. Also, if you don't like green valve caps, take your current caps off before you go in for the install, swap em after.

See you're getting the Energy Saver A/S. Somehow I got a brain bubble, thought you were talking about Ecopia EP20. That was what I picked up here, in 195/65R15 for just under $500. Everything's a bit more expensive up here, and then there's our 80 cent dollar. Anyway.
