Electric dump truck generates electricity rather than consuming it
Sounds like perpetual motion (but its not)
Electric Dump Truck Produces More Energy Than It Uses | Hackaday
This fully electric dump truck doesn't consume any electricity...but actually generates more than it uses.
The mine is located uphill. So it goes up empty and comes back down fully loaded.
The regen exceeds what is uses to go up hill.

1,000,000 e-rickshaws in India and more BEVs to come
I was completely unaware of the number and extent of use of e-rickshaws in metropolitan areas of India, which is the focus of the article in this link:
Inside India’s Messy Electric Vehicle Revolution - The New York Times
But 2 points struck me as particularly important :
”Although auto-rickshaws are safer and faster, a ride in one costs three to 10 times more than a ride in an e-rickshaw, which is less expensive because of the vehicles’ cheaper energy supply and ability to cram in four or more paying passengers.”
The fossil-fueled versions of these rickshaws can only carry 3 passengers. The increase from 3 to 4 passengers may not sound like much, but it is an increase of 33% in fares and income, and thus could make a critical difference to the livelihood of these mostly poverty-level drivers. Most e-rickshaws currently use lead-acid batteries, and I speculate...Robert Holt Aug 22, 2019 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 3,135 Likes: 0 Replies: 24 -
Hydrogen fuel a strong possibility?
Saw this article. Could the cost to produce compete with oil? And, if it is cheaper to produce and more environmentally friendly, could we finally see a real alternative to gasoline?

California reaches agreement for higher fuel economy standards with 5 major automakers
California reached an agreement last month with 4 major automakers to continue 3.7% annual average fuel economy increases despite the Trump administration's move to freeze the federal standards. A 5th automaker (Mercedes) has since joined and the New York times reports a 6th will join soon. GM and FCA have commented they prefer not to join the deal with California at this time so it seems Toyota or Nissan are more likely. Trump has been pressuring executives for Toyota and GM not to join the pact.

PRIUS C - TWO FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT
I'm an owner of a 2013 Prius C - Two.
I recently had my car break down and took it to a Toyota dealership. They told me that I had to replace the Fuel Gauge Sending Unit.
They then quoted me over $1000 bill. I'm not comfortable with this considering when I looked up the cost of the part for the Fuel Gauge Sending Unit is was only $105. They told me that I should replace the whole Fuel Pump Assembly and the gasket which is $505 and $9.
Is it required to replace the whole system or can just the Fuel Gauge Sending Unit be replaced??
I don't understand having to replace the entire Fuel Pump Assembly.
Thank you greatly!!! I appreciate it.Katelyn Johnson Aug 13, 2019 Prius c Care, Maintenance and Troubleshooting Read More Views: 2,956 Likes: 0 Replies: 3 -

Dropping hybrids . . . maybe
Source: There Is No Hybrid Future At GM And Volkswagen
As automakers around the globe lean on hybrids as a way to enable compliance with fuel consumption and emissions standards, two of the world’s leading manufacturers have decided to completely scrap that genre of vehicle from their lineup. General Motors and Volkswagen aren’t here to play: they’re going fully electric.I have nothing to add. GM has released a lot of weak hybrids and VW sold "clean diesels." Pot, Kettle . . . soot black.

Honda only selling Clarity PHEV in California now
I wonder if it just didn't sell well enough, battery supply constraint, or if Honda wants more CARB credits.

PRIUS sales in Australia - by variant
Statistics for July 2019 in Australia:
- PRIUS 15
- PRIUS c 27
- PRIUS v 25
Additionally, they said Camry and RAV4 were "about 50% hybrid" - (Total Camry 1598, Total RAV4 2419). I can't see Corolla Hybrid listed - last I heard it was selling about 40% hybrid.
[EDIT - TOYOTA said in May that 31.4% of Corolla - Hatch only sales are hybrid (though elsewhere it was reported that there were supply issues. And it was reported recently that the Corolla Sedan, which isn't a big seller, will be coming in Hybrid at the end of 2019.]alanclarkeau Aug 5, 2019 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 2,535 Likes: 4 Replies: 9 -
