Subway has announced they'll be creating EV Charging Oasis in partnership with GenZ EV Solutions. This will put together Subway restaurants with charging stations, sitting areas and even playgrounds. They'll start later this year and will include existing restaurants as well as new ones. Sounds kind of like the service areas found on Thruways, except without the gas (the liquid kind).

Even though I have felt the lack of EV charging infrastructures on the road in my own area, I mostly agree with the points made in the article. Our household recently switched from a two-car household (Pathfinder hybrid mid-size SUV and Prius Prime PHEV midsize passenger car) to a single-car (Escape PHEV compact SUV). If a single car does not work for two drivers, then I will likely look for a BEV as our second car. But I know BEV as currently available on market is not suitable as the only car for us. Not for our location, climate, and lifestyle.

An update to the thread created in 2020. Aptera announced they hope to start production by the end of 2023. So the first units will be the Aptera Launch Edition. The 700W solar panels hope to give the car about 40 miles of range per day and claims a range of 400 miles. The 3 wheel drive 2 seater has 32.5 cubic feet of storage and can reach 60 mph in about 4 seconds. Aptera has 40,000 reservations and needs an additional $50 Million in funding to start production. They expect to build 10,000 a year and then switch to 20,000. At that rate it'll take 2 1/2 years to clear their reservations. It is a sharp looking vehicle. My familiar experience with local Wawa stations is that they are trying to get the customers through their transactions and out the door in minutes if not seconds.
