Upside App
Save some cash every time you fill up.
I use this app in combination with a 3% cash back credit card.
I go to CircleK to fill up, I was given a discount card a couple months ago for 20¢ off a gallon which expires sometime in May, so thats cool they do that and if you go on a Thursday most of the CircleK stations also give 20¢ off a gallon.
You are able to stack the discount given by Upside with the discount cards CircleK gives you or on those Thursday deals.
We can also save more if you use my invite code Y7Y2P
You will get an extra 15¢ a gallon cash back the first time you use the app.
Why spend more when you can save!!!AzusaPrius Apr 22, 2023 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 920 Likes: 1 Replies: 4 -
Tesla gives update on its game-changing 4680 battery cell
https://electrek.co/2023/04/21/tesla-update-4680-battery-cell/
I read this and I think: "Where is Toyota?"
If it wasn't that:
- Musk
- questionable mechanical reliability
- questionable marketing strategy about $15k beta software
- questionable management of their employees
- they all look the same and they haven't changed their appearance in years
- they got away from all buttons and stalks in the name of...saving money at the expense of safety and customer convenience (very personal opinion on this one, I admit - I have never driven a Tesla).
I would buy a Tesla. -

Mechanical Investigative Minds
Unknown to me, an acquaintance introduced an unscrupulous mechanic then both looted original Toyota Prius vehicle part’s and may have damaged hybrid system/s.
Mechanic says I need new brake’s and rotors (less than a month after a NYS Inspection), acquaintance confirmed & say’s he will purchase my brake’s & rotor’s. Mechanic say’s to my acquaintance because we’re friends, I’ll only charge you $100 for labor. I thought labor included too? I said to my acquaintance, I can’t accept, he’s insisting and with that he has no ulterior motives, he’s a nice guy who recently came into some money and want’s to help. A day was set for the brake’s and rotor’s.
The brake job was done. The following day, a noise is heard from the rear passenger wheel area. I called the mechanic, he asked that I let things settle and if noise continues to get back to him. Shortly thereafter, an alert, check engine light came on. I pulled into a full service station and the girl shuts it off. I call... -

TOYOTA TO MAKE MAJOR PIVOT TO EVs
Look for Toyota to make a major pivot and start a big push into the EV segment. In fact, look for it to start copying a lot of what Tesla does. Toyota is not going to give up on hybrids, but it is going to scrap its current EV architecture, called eTNGA, and go with a...bwilson4web Apr 6, 2023 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 4,952 Likes: 2 Replies: 58 -
Despite price cuts, Tesla is making more cars than it can sell

Oil Embargo II or more
Source: Saudis, other oil giants announce surprise production cuts | AP News
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia and other major oil producers on Sunday announced ... cuts totaling up to 1.15 million barrels per day from May until the end of the year, a move that could raise prices worldwide.
Higher oil prices would help fill Russian President Vladimir Putin’s coffers as his country wages war on Ukraine and force Americans and others to pay even more at the pump amid worldwide inflation.
It was also likely to further strain ties with the United States, which has called on Saudi Arabia and other allies to increase production as it tries to bring prices down and squeeze Russia’s finances.
The production cuts alone could push U.S. gasoline prices up by roughly 26 cents per gallon, in addition to the usual increase that comes when refineries change the gasoline...bwilson4web Apr 3, 2023 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 1,290 Likes: 0 Replies: 15 -

Robots to plug in your car
Since we got a couple of pieces on wireless charging.
Hyundai Introduces Robots To Charge Your EV
The charger plug is on robot arm. I think the rest is self explanatory. The article has a video(might have to turn off adblocker).
There are limitations in that the car needs extra equipment to open and close the charge port door, and communicate with the robot. Plus, the arm may need a larger motion range for other models. Wireless chargers have similar requirements though.Trollbait Mar 30, 2023 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 1,174 Likes: 0 Replies: 11 -
From Prius to bZ4X
My journey started in late 1999, when I came across a newspaper article mentioning a new approach to reduced emissions and improved efficiency. It was my introduction to Prius. I was intrigued. By April 2000, seeing an import of the Gen-0 model only available in Japan, I became obsessed. I had learned there were 20 of them which had been distributed to families across the United States to collect feedback from real-world driving. That feedback was used for the Gen-1 upgrade to be rolled out here that Fall. I put my deposit down when online ordering began, they started the agonizing wait.
First test-drive opportunity came in early August, upon which I ended up coining the term "Stealth Mode" from experiencing the Prius electric-only drive (up to 42 mph, back then). That following month, I took delivery of my 2001 Prius. The online battles started then. There was intense pushback from diesel supporters, which ultimately contributed to dieselgate. Hybrids were clearly a... -

I have a 2015 Toyota Prius 4 hybrid and I’m having trouble understanding locking and unlocking doors
Hi I’m new here, and have a 2015 Toyota Prius 4 hybrid and I’m having a hard time understanding the locking and unlocking of the doors. I have keyless entry. And when I push the little lines on the door it locks but when I open the other doors to check they unlock. How do I fix this? It’s like every time I hit the button on my fob it’s locks but than unlocks if I open the doors to checkMandyreich Mar 19, 2023 Gen 3 Prius Care, Maintenance & Troubleshooting Read More Views: 1,135 Likes: 0 Replies: 11 -
Tesla cellular App creates a "man in the middle" security flaw.
There's been almost no news coverage of a major security flaw discovered last week, approximately 6 days ago. Anyone with a Tesla can use their cell phone to unlock and then drive your car.
The flaw was introduced when Tesla updated their cell phone app and the car firmware to allow the car to treat the cell phone like a real key. It effect, it gives an authenticated cell phone the same privileges as a physical key in their wireless smart keyless entry system. That sounds cool, and it is if it's done correctly.
The problem appears to be that the Tesla programmers made a classic rookie mistake when coding the authentication, key exchange and authorization routines. The end result is that when you unlock your own Tesla, any other tesla within range of the blue tooth signal will accept your phone as authorized to provide entry. Oh, and it also thinks that your phone is authorized to allow you to start and drive the car.
In effect, Tesla created a built in "man in the... -
