Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

If sense were common, everyone would have some.

The slower you go, the more you see.

I don't have to out run the bear. I just have to out run you. :D

I'm from the Appalachians...picture a cross between the Beverly Hillbillies and the Andy Griffith Show, and you've got a good idea of my "raisin'." We've got lots:

Dubya's so stupid, he couldn't pour piss out of a boot with the instructions on the heel. (Just using the first stupid person that came to my head.)

That paper factory stinks so bad, it'd puke a buzzard off a sh#@wagon.

Egads--can't remember anymore off the top of my head...but it's absolutely hysterical when these types of "country" euphemisms are used in a more urban crowd...

    That's great!

I spent a summer once in Charleston, SC (take it from me- summer is NOT the time to go there) and they had a paper factory there. I never realized that anything could stink so bad! This was 25 years ago, and I can STILL smell it!

I happen to be fond of a line from Jimmy Buffett's "A Pirate Looks at Forty" - "I've made enough money to buy Miami but I pissed it away so fast."

And while on quotes from Buffett, how about a song title - "We are the people our parents warned us about".

Not sayings per se, but I like them.

How about an old Pennsylvania Dutch saying "We grow too soon old and too late smart."

I think they are great quotes. You picked my favorite Buffett song...my other favorite line from the same song: "I have been drunk now for over two weeks; I passed out, and I rallied, and I sprung a few leaks." Reminds me of my college years...especially the rallying part.

In fact, his entire "You Had to Be There" album is full of excellent quotes, both from songs and from his commentary..."and I hope Anita Bryant never, ever does one of my songs" is a great one, too!

From one ParrotHead to another...thank you!

I never had to spend a summer near one, but I drove through one somewhere near Hanover, Pennsylvania over fifteen years ago once and I swear, the smell stayed in my car for two weeks. I've never forgotten it, either. It'd certainly puke a buzzard off a sh@#wagon. :p

Got this through an email today:

I can totally identify with 1,5,7,13 and 16. We all could have a little bit of 17 in us.

1.Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the
    statue.

    2. Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat
    them.

    3. Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the
    middle of
    it.

    4. Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their
    maker.

    5. If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

    6. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was
    probably
    worth it.

    7. It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a
    warning
    to others.

    8. Never buy a car you can't push.

    9. Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you
won't have a leg to stand on.

    10. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

    11. Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

    12. The second mouse gets the cheese.

    13. When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

    14. Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

    15. You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the
    world to one person.

    16. Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

17 We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty
and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but
they all have to live in the same box.

    18. A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
