Hey, when do we have the National Gathering of Prime owners!?
and maybe regular Prii too? It would probably have to be in a place like Austin, somewhere in the middle of the U.S.

Lebanon, Kansas! Sounds kinda out of the way... especially for a gathering of thousands and thousands of Prii.
Besides one of my sisters lives near Austin, and the other in Houston and we're talkin' like a dozen or more grandkids in the area! Now how far is that from New Joysie!

Several Nebraska Primes on this forum -that's pretty close to center. Maybe they should host it.

Yeah, I miss getting gas...so now I go in to say hello and buy a Powerball ticket.

I saw where California Gov is proposing a 12 cent state gas hike to help pay for roads. Primers must be smiling.

Absofreakinglutety! The law has been passed, effective last quarter of the year. Yeah Jerry, you go man! This will help clear some of the riff raff off the freeways; gas prices go up, traffic goes down, and the Prime owns the road!. Currently at 2400+ miles on this MY first fill up, with 3/8 tank left.
    You just gotta love it!

Wish I could charge at work. :( My 72 mile commute is getting me about 1300+ miles for this tank, now that the weather is warmer. 2400+ is impressive!

One thing I must confess, the Entune report of mileage available for EV-only is kind of a fudge. You'll notice that the figure is a two digit number at most, since there is no decimal value shown. Entune rounds up or down the value to the nearest whole number. When Entune said I had 36 miles of EV charge, it was really only 35.8 miles. I cannot tell a lie.

    About the Green Grand Prix
WATKINS GLEN, NY – The Toyota Green Grand Prix, a showcase of motoring technology that aims for a cleaner environment, is returning to the famed Watkins Glen International race course on Friday April 15th, 2016.

The single-day event will feature a fuel-efficiency competition for pre-registered
drivers of alternate-fueled vehicles, hybrids and traditional gasoline-powered and diesel-
powered vehicles. Individuals, colleges and universities, car clubs and manufacturers are all
    invited to participate.

No admission is charged for the Green Grand Prix, which launches season-opening weekend
    festivities at Watkins Glen International.

Entries in the rallies are now being accepted through the Toyota Green Grand Prix website at
    Green Grand Prix - Home.

At one time, @ericbecky organized Hybridfest in Madison WI and even did a West Coast event. Personally, I'd like to see regional, green car rallies. I once drove to Hybridfest but it was a long slog to and from but I was able to do a tire test with our 2003 Prius.

I organized a couple of tours of the Lexington KY Toyota plant. About a dozen folks showed up and that would be a natural magnet to hold a green car rally. There are some very rally-friendly roads in the area.

There was also one on April 7, 2017 so perhaps this will become an annual event.

I'm debating bringing the BMW i3-REx or the Prius Prime. Since I suspect there will be Prius Prime representation, I'm leaning BMW i3-REx.

Bob has organized Green Grand Prix before Hybridfest was ever a thought in my head.

He does a great job with the event. Really, it should be on everyone's calendar.

As for Prius gatherings, I attended the last To Go Before event. Smaller than you might expect, given the hundreds of thousands of Prius owners. But definitely fun and anyone who missed out on it missed a good time.

I'd be happy to organize a National gathering of Prius folks, but the reality is there really isn't much grassroots demand for it. The car is kind of ubiquitous and often seen as just a functional car. It would be like if someone said they wanted to have a national gathering of front wheel drive car owners. Met with ho-hum response.

That's not to say promotional events don't get attended. When Toyota did a push to break our Longest Hybrid Car Parade record, they easily did it.

I've run our local Hybrid Car Club since 2004, and that is a place you might want to start. Especially to get volunteers to help you organize a National event.

So... Getting back to a National event.
If you really are serious about having one, I'm always up for helping to make it happen. It is a lot of effort and costs a fair amount of money. But it is possible. Call any time

I think I'll try some of the local, road rally events. I'm thinking the BMW i3-REx might be competitive. <GRINS>

Another thought on this: your simple example is just that. The car would never consume 3 gal to go 150 miles/ nor one gal to go downhill. However I will accept your math for the whole trip. It really cannot be computed unless one tanks up and keeps track of the distance. Even then is subject to error. Then the question is: when tanking up, how full is full?
