Well, since this is a forum about the Prius specifically and fuel efficient vehicles and green tech in general, don't expect praise for your choice. But you of course are welcome to drive whatever you want, what "extras" is it that you want in a Prius?

 

Lots of haters here duck camaro incoming. Drive what you like and change when you want. I'm not sure what my dreams mean but i keep dreaming of a red mustang GT parked in my garage, then i think of the insurance cost and gas consumption. wakes me up in a sweat then i open the garage door and see my blue goose ( Prius III ) smiling back at me and all is well.

Maybe I should fess up.... I have cars other than my Prius. I have a 96 Jeep Cherokee and a 90 Acura Integra. I love all three cars. All three cars fill the different needs of our family.

Heck since I'm being honest... ... I didn't buy my Prius V because I was trying to save the Planet. I bought it because it was time for a new car and I wanted the new car to be: 1) reasonably priced, 2) had excellent gas mileage, and 3) lots of room.

All kidding aside... Judging by some of the responses above, maybe some people need to get out more often. Lost of people own more than one car. Their cars fit the needs of the family members. Not everyone wants or needs a Prius. Lots of other cars are way more fun than a Prius. If I could afford it, I would have a daily driver (Prius - check), a 4X4 (Jeep - check), go fast car-gas guzzler (911? - maybe one day).

I am happy and jealous of Crazyhorse. The new Camaro and Mustang look great.

I guess I don't fit the Prius stereotype. I thought that it was just a perceived stereotype. Maybe I was wrong....

 

Ditto here. Back in 2006 I bought a Honda Insight-I for commuting because I saw where gas prices were headed. Now that I've retired, I use it mostly for longer trips (and keep it because it's a collector's item). Averaging 100mpg on summer trips is more of a thrill to me than whizzing around corners, and I can do 100mpg on the highway, no need to find some traffic-free back road to experience this kind of performance.
I had kept my Subaru Outback Wagon for local use (30mpg) and larger loads until last year. When I replaced it with a Prius: twice the mpg, same carrying capacity, about the same price.
I used to satisfy my need for speed with a motorcycle. 800-1000cc will outperform any car, at least up to >80mph, and still get around 40-50mpg.
So there are different multi-vehicle solutions for different situations.

I'm not sure there IS a Prius stereotype, except in ad and marketing sectors.

As for the OP, kinda trollish.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't want my Prelude, WRX, STI, Supra, CBR1000RR, Chevy 3500, or any other one of my vehicles back. Most of which had the ability to hit 100 mph faster than my prius can hit 30.

The other thing I hit often, was traffic. I live in NJ and there's never enough road to really enjoy any of my my toys. Not to mention it's unlawful to break the speed limit. I would never do that of course.

The Prelude did 160. WRX 155. STI 177. CBR 187. 3500 110.

Prius? 65.

The fact is, the need for speed doesn't just cease to exist when you give up HP for MPG. It only changes so now I'm saving for something ridiculous to sit in a garage next to the Prius, perhaps a nice used Viper. This way I can drive to work and get 50 mpg during the week, and ride to car shows with my ego satisfied on weekends.

Enjoy your new car, I wonder why you didn't spring for the v8? That is a choice you may find yourself regretting when you pull up next to one.

 

Take your Prius to the Dealership for repairs, it is broken.

 

Regardless of what Honda pretends, the CR-Z is less of a sports car than a minivan. It certainly is a heck of a lot slower than most of them.

I rented the new Camaro for a few days and I enjoyed every minute of driving it. I understand why a person might want to replace the Prius with it. OP has simply traded MPG for driving experience.

 

MPG is just a different driving experience, one that, given today's heavy traffic, can be enjoyed a lot more often and easily than the "old" driving experience. Not to mention safety, reduced stress, and fuel $$$ savings.

I certainly enjoyed the old-style performance of motorcycles when on back roads without traffic, but I spent a LOT of time pounding along interstates that just wasn't fun.

 

And one car to rule them all.

Faster than a speeding Prius
More four wheel torque than Jeep
Better fuel mileage than a pulse/glide Porche.

I really like my Prius, but I am not married to the thing, and I am not so narrow minded to think that the Prius is the answer to all of mankind's issues.
