Your last sentence is my attitude. Three extra letters, and no need to hit Cap Lock. And easily understood. Well, except for the Brits with their "motor cars". ;)

I can't remember the last time I encountered an External Decombustion Engine, lol.

Pearl S will go into EV mode and stay there without running the warmup cycle IF I select EV -before- the car fully wakes up. It WON'T go to EV if the traction battery is even slightly lower than "normal" (displays "EV mode not available at this time"). For example, I press start when the car is cold in the garage, press the EV mode button, and it goes into EV. I then back out of the garage and drive around the garage into the back yard to wash the car. It stays in EV for the one to two minutes this takes and the engine never tries to start.

I haven't tried driving away in EV and I wouldn't really want to. Too inefficient. The engine must run to warm up the cat. anyway if I'm going for a drive somewhere, it might as well be powering the car in that case.

Oh come on, the mythical EDE?

I'm generally against excessive abbreviation, and even have ranted against using things like smilies. But I kind of like using ICE. Sounds like their could be diamonds or something under the hood.

I popped the bonnet to look at the overheating ICE. Sounds like a an adult novel or a commentary on global warming. I like the vagueness.

^ There was thread here about a problem with the "ICE water pump". I was practically frothing, kept it zipped, but it was tough...

My beef: in the last maybe 30 years, the world has basically gone batty with an obsession to replace terse and succinct, single word names with inflated, three word narratives, and then shorten them to acronyms. It's a FAD I rue.

I believe that WWW is the only Three Letter Acronym (TLA) that takes longer to say than its origin (six syllables Vs three)

There's a bank in Canada that runs ads saying (phonetically): "BeeMo..., Bank of Montreal". The acronym is BMO.

How they even convert the full name to that acronym puzzles me. Maybe the French variation: Bank Montreal Of? Or Bank of MOntreal? And then they corrupt it from the more up-and-up (phonetically): "Bee Em Oh".

So: they pronounce the acronym (somewhat fractured), and then the full name. They seem conflicted, lol.

Way off topic of this thread, per usual, lol.
