Keystone leaked about 1/2 hour of (full rate) flow* in Kansas. Cleanup underway Federal data: Kansas oil spill biggest in Keystone history - ABC News No estimate on when it will start flowing again. But I assume refiners on TX coast have some crude in storage. *my math on 14,000 barrels
Meteor Strike Caught on Camera in Germany ! #shorts can you actually click on it? it's not click bate, but your probably right that my lack of participation is getting frustrating for some.
There are now several cameras pointed up specifically to see meteor trails, and many casual observations besides. Detections leading to 'finds' on the ground come more from rain radars. Both in US and EU if I'm remembering correctly.
Galactic ecology Ask Ethan: Will the Universe run out of hydrogen? - Big Think I enjoy Ethan Siegel generally, but this one was especially nice. Universe as an inefficient helium generator
I had my favorite part in the article linked above, with a diagram and disclaimer of the process being not intuitive. It's focus was the hot big bang. My mind started getting into a type of gymnastics routine of questions about why so many descriptions of the big bang go into detail about the heat and none that I've ever read about go into the properties of the lack there of heat, or why the universe as we currently understand it today is cooling off. Or, what is the opposite of the hot big bang and does it exist and is it getting hotter while the universe as explained by the big bang is cooling off. Just a couple things bouncing around my mind and have been bouncing around there for a relatively long time. At my pay grade I've been interested in the similarities between the microscopic and the macroscopic properties of physics beginning I guess in elementary school when I think I freaked out my 3rd grade teacher one or two days that year. A couple years later I learned that there is more space between the atoms of even the densest materials like Iron than the actual space consumed by the atoms. That kind of thing is pretty hard to wrap ones young mind around.
You can do a lot with Photochop and CGI. Or in this particular case, design software After Effects and Davinci Resolve.
I for one would be interested in knowing if the video was shopped. It was dramatic to see, even if it was edited sci-fi
Multiple fact checks cover it, including Snopes. And the animation artist who first posted it, claims credit for creating it. Read the description here: I knew it couldn't be real because news of the impact didn't show up in various science and astronomy outlets. Some of the physics was also off.
Your first link had this in the description, "Meteor in Damp in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany Made with After Effects and Davinci Resolve."
