I sent mine back after three weeks. The first week it worked fine and then endless frustration. Jack was good about it and I received a refund minus the 15% restock fee. Without knowledge of electrical nuance, it is a difficult situation. A fine idea in principle, but it seems to require tinkering beyond simply install and use.

Let this be an example for others.
If a product like this arrives damaged in any way, please do not install it. Contact the company, have the damage items picked up, and ask for a replacement.

In this case, the internal damage was much more concerning than the damage that was outwardly visible.

I've now sent back the battery using a pre-paid tracking from FED-EX. Sent it on 5 Nov 2011. After sending an e-mail asking how it was going with the battery, I got an e-mail from Enginer on the 12th saying they had not recieved it yet and wanted to know what the tracking number (that they had sent me) was! I looked it up, and FED-EX shows it was delieved on the 9th! I have allready sent in the Converter using another FED-EX prepaid they sent me. It shows out for delivery right now (15 Nov). I've sent in 4 e-mails asking about the battery over the course of a couple of days and have not had even one reply back!

    Is everybody there on vacation?

I took alot of video when I was installing the kit. Was going to put up on youtube showing how to install the kit and the operation once installed. I really wanted to put up video's of a working system, which I actually got to work by using the Prius floor mat. All was great till the converters bad solder connection of the black DC out wire, had burnt up the board and caused the positive to short to the case (as best an electronics tech can tell me) He showed it to me. It was soldered, but not actually connected to the board, just wiggled around in the hole!

The system worked great the week before the battery HV wires chaffed through the metal of the case and shorted out. Why don't they put grip-tights on those? Or even grommets?

Anyways, I've got some good video, and some of the bad stuff. And of course it sucks going to the car shows and showing off an empty box, but I'm hoping someday they'll get my battery and converter fixed and back where they belong.

No. This is a typical interaction with Enginer.

Expect to receive more of the same in the future. Be persistent and you will eventually get what you need.

I sent my converter in on Sept 9th. They received it the next week. I went to Green Drive Expo on the 17th. I talked to Jack and he told me that he'll look into it when he goes back to MI. He said that he'll try to fix it and if not, he'll send me a new one in 2-3 weeks. 2 months later and no converter. I sent a request several times. They finally replied back and said that they're waiting for the next batch of converter that'll run cooler. I just got a FedEx tracking in email from Jack. My converter is on the way. I should receive it tomorrow. I want to get rid of it but I don't know if I should try out the new converter or sell the whole system with a BNIB converter.

It may help if you also complain on the Enginer user forum. Not all Enginer users are registered with Priuschat and I am sure that a lot of them would like to hear about your enchanting story. Please post photos of damaged converter and your videos.

I just worry when I'm told they didn't get the battery, when FED-EX showed it delivered. They have since found it, and I'm taking your suggestion to upgrade to the 4kw battery.

I'd put it in, chances are it'll work and you'll be happy with it. If not, I've got an AR-15 you can use on it to take out any frustrations!

I'll put up the video's. unfortunately, I never got pics of inside the converter. You wouldn't have seen much. Just the larger output wire not soldered properly.

I think I've complained to Enginer enough. Maybe... I like to get updated frequently, esp if something goes wrong like a lost battery pack!

I've opted to upgrade to a 4kw battery pack, I'm hoping all will go in without any problems.

You will soon learn that badgering Enginer support is the norm.

My 4kw kit is here, but my wife was out shopping both days when Fed-Ex stopped by to drop it off! You'd think they'd try later in the day if no-one was there in the mornings...

Call the fedex number on the drop off note and arrange to go to the fedex facility to pick it in person. It's usually between 6:30 and 7:00PM.

I wasn't allowed that option. The batteries are installed now, as is the converter. I drove 8 miles in EV mode, and to work (HWY) this morning and I'm allready seeing a huge increase in gas mileage.

Time to record data, post video's and make charts!

Too bad you're not around the corner :D

Greetings from the Netherlands from a 1 week owner of a Prius today, but interestee of the Enginer system for at least a year and the Prius for over a decade. No idea whether there's more Enginer or equivalent systems here but I expect to have more electricity than I need in a month or two (5kWp solarpanels), so I need one...:p
