Engine removal diy advice is it possible?

    I think @makbg1 was referring to the crankshaft pulley, the large round thing seen towards the bottom of the engine in the illustration for parts catalog Figure 11-01, Partial Engine Assembly, and in this publicity photo of the engine (click to see the entire picture). The water pump itself is driven electrically, so it has no pulley; @makbg1 may have mentioned it only to identify the side of the engine it’s on, towards the right side of the car. Indeed, there are no drive belts at all on third-generation Prius cars, just the timing chain and oil pump drive chain (no. 2 chain sub-assembly) inside the engine.

    Oh I see, thank you ! Those are super cool images/illustrations. I was attempting to find a part like a belt that might cause a squealing noise in my 2013 prius but I don't think the pulley would right? What would make it squeal after replacing the pump?
