Almost :) I have seen, when the car is cold and I am stopped at a red light, foot hard on the brake, an arrow going from the ICE icon to the battery icon. Car warming, and instead of wasting ALL of the energy in the gas, it put some watts in the battery. I also had my first sighting of the "snowflake on the road" warning that day. I bet there is a connection ;-)

People have mentioned a desire for a simple "engine run light". Or they could put little cartoon "movement" symbols on the screen around the icon. Just let me know if it is running or not. Then we wouldn't have to pop the hood, get out and check ;-) But there is no such thing on an unmodified Prius.

I would also like a coolent temp reading. I've read Daniel's "4 stages" doc and THINK I understand. But sometimes the car will refuse to go into stealth or "golf cart" mode when I really think it should. Flat road, 30 mph, plenty of battery SOC, seems like the car should be warm by now. Maybe a little MFD stage display - "Car is in stage 1, 2, 3a, 3b, 4" :)

    sorry guys
had to go out of town on business. no my engine icon is there, but i get no power transfer to the battery or front wheels when backing out of my garage first thing in the am so i assume the engine is warming coolant but it would seem like it would be doing something with a charge or would be showing on the mfd. if i understand what i read above this is normal as ice is not recorded running on the mfd which i find unusual. i thought reverse was electric only anyway? thx for the responses

as i understand it reverse is EV only. i'll be honest with ya, i have long since lost interest in the energy flow diagram. i wish they would have replaced that screen with something that gives more info on the engine environment like oil temp and pressure, water temp, etc. and an engine RPM would go along way towards letting one know if it is running.

i totaly agree dave... the screen is boring and lack of a engine temp and oil pressure makes me nervous. if it displayed rpm that would be awesome.
